George W. Bush on Gay Marriage, Immigration, and Why Obama Kept His Terrorism Policies
ABC News ^ | 7/7/2013 | Chris Good

President George W. Bush cautioned against criticizing gay couples, saying in an interview on “This Week” that you shouldn’t criticize others “until you’ve examined your own heart.”

Bush had waded into the revitalized same-sex marriage debate last week - if only barely - in a comment to a reporter in Zambia, who asked whether gay marriage conflicts with Christian values.

“I shouldn’t be taking a speck out of someone else’s eye when I have a log in my own,” Bush said last week.

In an interview in Tanzania with ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl, the former president explained his comment further.

“I meant it’s very important for people not to be overly critical of someone else until you’ve examined your own heart,” Bush told Karl.

As president, Bush opposed gay marriage, and Republicans pushed ballot measures to ban it at the state level. The topic has seen rejuvenated discussion after the Supreme Court overturned the federal ban on same-sex marriage, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Jesus didn’t condemn the woman caught in adultery but he also said go and sin no more. Gay Pride is promoting sin anyway its sliced. Christians can be loving, compassionate yet speak and hold to the truth that homosexuality is Biblically immoral. The Lord gives us all free choice but holds us accountable for what we choose. Christians would be remiss if they don’t lovingly speak out about sins that are actively promoted. We are to be light an salt to this dying world an corrupt culture. I should practice what I preach too being a less than stellar believer I must confess.

Just as long as we are not asked to condone or celebrate what they do with their gonads because it is dangerous to their health and to those bisexuals who bring it back into the general population. One big backlash is coming because this “condone & celebrate” has entered the workplace as a condition of employment - embrace Diversity!

He just cannot be quiet. His favorable ratings will fall; he went to right place to make this occur. He is a foolish man if he thinks he can overlook traditional marriage to make it into some type of a behavioral acceptance. Someone’s heart he says, no, think of the children who have no choice living in these type of behavioral situations. It’s not okay to use children as pawns to force a government to state what a family can be so a certain group can be made to have special rights. We’ve had that blueprint already for many years. To protect young children from being assaulted sexually. Gay relationships involve a sexual aspect. You can see women trying to become the male as the dad. Future problems, yes.

The Bush family have wanted amnesty for a long time. So, this current House will try to give that to him. The Bushes need to let a new generation move the country’s direction. This entire thing is to change the perception of God in our society. I would not ever vote for a Bush. GW gave us weak (fraudulent) Roberts. No more weak men or women to follow into the future.

Disgrace that man has messed up this experiment of America so much by this advancing this politically correctness or compassionate non conservative polices. Mr. Bush, you are no Reagan. The media doesn’t like you. Even when you actually say you agree with their polices.

For me, it shows one reason that you would not fight back to the hate of the media as you were on the right side of certain issues. Looks like you want their acceptance. Jeb would do the same, in my view. Such a bad turn of history to now come out to show your views as being liberal when millions voted for you as you promised that you were a conservative and would honor those polices. Sorry, I don’t need your lectures about my heart.

The "gay marriage issue" isn't about criticizing queers, George. You made the same simplistic mistake regarding border security and illegal aliens when you called them "good hearted people." In both cases it's about the law and the underlying principles not whether homosexuals or illegal aliens are likable or not. It's hard to believe that someone who was president for eight years could be so oblivious.

I dunno. I just don’t understand. I am basically libertarian. I know some homos, sorry, don’t use the word “gay”, ‘cuz that’s the problem

What they do, they can do, as long as it does not involve me, or pushed down my throat.

Sorry, marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Been so for several thousand of years. Homos cannot marry. I am not into Orwellian. They cannot reproduce. Simple logic. Therefore they have to recruit. Hence we got this nonsense of public schools saying it is normal and the celebrities in the media defending perversion.

I am at the point that I agree with the sodomy laws. I think pedophiles ought to be hung. Not the third strikeout rule. Touch a child, you are toast. A homo should not be a scout leader. Hang them. Public hangings were good, if used properly.

The founding fathers were correct. They based their beliefs on the Bible and on morality that was endowed to us by our Creator. Sorry, same sex marriage is not close. There is no such thing. It is perversion.

Greg.

As W reveals more about himself now that he’s not seeking public office, what are the odds that he was ever even pro-life? Few of the Bushes ever were. Was W, or was that just the postion Rove told him to take as a bone to those referred to as the “Christian Right” in those years?

Dubya is so morally superior to us non-NWO types. We obviously don't know anything about anything.

There is a small park here in W Hollywood (actually a road curve) that’s named after Sheppard. I have a lot of fun with these freaks and explain with facts that Sheppard was robbed with no knowledge he was a homo. They just..could not accept it and call me a bigot. ;)

Gays and leftists are so giddy lately thinking they are winning the PR battles and obtaining their ‘special rights’. Feel bad for them because the wages of sin is death. Unrepentant sins have a bad outcome and today’s giddy joy will result in harsh, painful endings sooner or later. Hell is an awful destination for anyone. Being humble, confession of sins, repenting and faith through Jesus Christ is the solution that the unwise reject.

I am a Sinner
This does not mean that Sin is Good, Wise, or to be Commended

I am an Alcoholic
This does not mean that I teach Alcoholism as
Good, Wise, or to be Commended
It is to be Repented, Confessed, and Penance done

The Apostle Paul in Romans 1, under the New Law,
is Blunt on the Subject of Perversion

One May be Homosexual
But is is Sin, like any other
This does not mean that one teaches Homosexuality as
Good, Wise, or to be Commended
It is to be Repented, Confessed, and Penance done

Like All Sins

Yes, I have many Beams in my Eyes
So do You

Public Acts of Alcoholism are, to a varying degree, discouraged
Not Codified in Law as Good, Wise, or to be Commended
Alcoholism where there is harm to others, is a
Misdemeanor or Felony

The Law Here should apply the same to Homosexuality

No one asked him to criticize gay couples.

“...In a comment to a reporter in Zambia, who asked whether gay marriage conflicts with Christian values...”

They asked Bush if gay marriage conflicts with Christian values and he wouldn’t answer the question.

No one is criticizing homosexuals for living together. They can already do that in civil unions. I guess he is okay with homosexuals adopting and raising children. That’s the real question here.

The first President Bush helped give us Clinton.

The second President Bush helped give us Obama.

A third President Bush can’t help us.
