Former President George W. Bush today cheered on the progress in pushing comprehensive immigration reform through Congress.
The legislative process can be ugly, Bush said with a chuckle in an interview aired today on ABCs This Week. But it looks like they're making some progress.

government for the illegals, by the illegals.
>>Actually, we can’t win as a third party. It’s time for conservatives to hijack the Republican Party<<
Ya got it all backwards. The republican party is controlled by a few very powerful, very wealthy folks.
If the majority of the true conservatives abandoned them, left’em to their own, they’d be the folks who could not win.
Most republicans, least wise the overwhelming majority of people I speak and am associated with are at their wits end regarding the republican party.
No, with all respect, your mistaken. Perhaps your speaking to transplants, but true native Texans are fed up with illegals. We've lived with this problem for decades.
Our insurance rates are higher, our taxes are higher, we have overcrowded emergency rooms, gang violence, drugs, we've had wages for Texans pushed down because of the flood of super cheap labor, we have human trafficking, formerly eradicated diseases are resurfacing to include TB, measles, hepatitis, whooping cough to name a few.
Trust me, even first and second generation Texans of Mexican decent want the border sealed.
We made the best with what we had. But, from my point of view, that doesn't change what I said.
Well written post! I have heard similar points, but I like the way you say it.
The first step to ‘reforming’ immigration is enforcing our existing laws, and sending every illegal alien back to their place of origin. Confiscate every asset they own to pay for the return trip.
I hope so but I have had some fierce discussions with Texas ranchers on/near the border and they seem to think it is fine for illegals to come across and work like they always have, and many deny there are serious issues with human trafficking, drug smuggling, and other border issues. Many tell me they have so many friends and employees that are illegal, some have been here for many years and they don’t want to rock that boat. They act as though it is part of Texas culture.
amazing (and people still believe and like this guy?).
first he and mccain set obama up to win the presidency and triple down on bush spending via tarp 1, stimulus, obamacare and a police state to boot.
then he’s as quiet as a mouse while obama wrecks the country for 5 solid years.
and now he’s roaring about the need for amnesty?
gimme a break. Lord have mercy!
Nope, I don’t miss you yet George.
“Where are all the Bush supporters?
Bet they ran for the tall grass, real fast!”
I wonder if FreeRepublic will keep getting that big donation from Texas that puts the freepathon to bed?
Anyone surprised? That’s why he lost me...
Does this moron Bush realize that 30 million amnestied illegals and their family back home (50 million more) will vote in democrats/socialism to turn the USA into a socialist state?
Rubio, Ryan ,Democrats, Bush? do you realize that? I know democrats want that as that is their goal to advance progressive policies and install a socialist/communist state.
do you Bush, democrats,Ryan , rubio realize that you are for communism?
Anyone that is for Amnesty is for a communist Coup of the United States.
So who was the conservative President between Clinton and Obama?
Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.
Yeah, W was on the wrong side of this issue back when he was prez. He really pissed me off. I had his back on the War on Terror and when he finally decided to come out strong on a domestic issue, this is the crap he pulls on us. This is a damn fine thanks to the people who voted for him.
W, ex-presidents are not supposed to be seen or heard. Why don’t you get together with Bubba Krinton and go bowling?
Your post is classic class warfare - blaming the rich people for simply living up to their means. If you have enough money to buy somebody’s labor, why would you need to scrub the damn toilet?
>>The puppet masters for the RNC don’t even care that they’ve lost their constituency.
They don’t care because the Progressive victory is certain. All the pieces are in place and all they’re waiting for is the collapse and subsequent demand by the people for the government to “fix it”.
Newly-legalized Mexicans crowding the high school educated Americans out of the work force is the last brick in the wall.
What in tarnation does that have to do with what is posted here?
