Trayvon Martin's testimony wouldn't have changed anything in Zimmerman trial
Fox News ^ | July 10, 2013 | John Lott

In the days since 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by 28-year-old George Zimmerman, a common claim has been: "we will never know what happened between Zimmerman and Martin since the only person who knows the truth and is still alive is Zimmerman."

But this statement is not accurate. Zimmerman's defense rested its case Wednesday. And the truth is, we know a lot about what happened on that fateful night. Trayvon Martin's testimony, could he have spoken, wouldn't changed anything.

For those who have watched the trial, ask yourself: is there even one piece of convincing evidence that Zimmerman did not act to defend himself from a threat of “imminent death or great bodily harm”?

There is a reason that the local District Attorney refused to bring the case against Zimmerman and an outside District Attorney had to be brought in to handle it. And that the chief of police was also removed from his job because he refused to charge Zimmerman with a crime. Also consider that the lead detective on the case told the jury he believed Zimmerman's version of the events that happened. . . .

It would only give the prosecutor to smash his head, again and again and again....until he breaks down.

I'm gonna pray real hard for George tonight....for God to give him strength.

The judge is on record as thinking so. I'd bet if she was on the jury, she would convict.

I don't believe the jury will convict on murder, but even though the manslaughter bar is high, I fear they may convict on this charge. My hope is there is one or two holdouts.

I definitely think they’ll convict of the lesser charge because they’ll want to appease the mob, unfortunately they don’t know manslaughter can get GZ many years behind bars; around thirty years.

As terrible as being lynched is for GZ, I'm glad he removed this criminal from society. The lives and health of the innocents Trayvon would have continued harming are worth far more than the life of one predator. Good riddance. Perhaps GZ will move to northern Idaho or some such place where the feral Amish are less of a threat. You've got to know when to walk away, know when to run, and it's time for GZ to run (while the lawyers fight over his civil suit against those who lynched him and the TM family's civil suit to get rich over that loser's death).

Speaking of people speaking... it is noteworthy that TM’s (TM) voice was NEVER heard by any juror. It is thus left to their imagination that TM’s voice was that of a 12 year old - high pitched and in tune with the 911 yelps for help. This in of itself is a travesty... how such a central piece of evidence, the help screams, would not be able to be compared by jurors by lining up GM and TM (TM) voices....

He’s assuming Martin would have told the truth. Big assumption.

The 7-11 recording offers an exemplar of TM's voice, and also a more up-to-date image of TM than any other image the jury has been allowed to see. I'm not sure on what basis it should not be considered evidence both of the relative size of TM (certainly relevant in a self-defense claim) and his voice (relevant for identifying the screams).

I agree with the premise, but — geez — is it too much to ask for writing skills above those of a 4th grade child?

In a just world, most of the prosecution witnesses would be prosecuted for perjury.

Any evidence that might make it less likely that the jury would find Zimmerman guilty had to be excluded.
