Occupy Philly joins in nationwide protest as Nutter makes statement on Zimmerman acquittal

Across the nation, demonstrators are rallying against yesterday's Florida verdict acquitting former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in the death of Trayvon Martin.

Protests, vigils and rallies began in cities across the country just moments after a jury of six women found Zimmerman not guilty.

Here in Philadelphia, those moved by the verdict gathered before midnight last night as part of a 17-hour vigil which began around 11:30 p.m. last night at the Municipal Services Building on Thomas Paine Plaza.

Today, Sunday, July 14, at 6:00 p.m., supporters of Occupy Philadelphia have called for a rally at 15th and JFK Blvd., centered at Love Park.

Mayor Michael Nutter released a statement this morning, saying, "everyone should be calm and reflective" during this time.

But they had no problem with a murderer (OJ Simpson) walking free.

Guess it’s about time for many of these freeloaders to move into the park for a “cause” as many of their parents are probably ready to throw their butts out onto the sidewalk.

The GZ verdict came just in time for so many.

Where can we find a list of all these rallies so we know what areas to stay away from?

You may want to buy a “Che” shirt for just such occasions.

I grew up with 4 sisters and they could occupy a bathroom for longer than that.

That is the post of the day. Thanks for the laugh. I know exactly what you mean.

Instead of porta-potty’s, Mayor Nutter can provide plenty of Philadelphia police vehicles so the occutards can ‘go’ in style.

>>>>>Are the Occupy freaks going to take dumps on the sidewalks again...<<<<<

When that very thing was reported here in Charlotte during an “occupation,” our morning radio guy dubbed them “occupoopers.” LOL

sidebar to cc: My dad lived in a house with so many females, he had to build a bathroom in the basement! LOL

Che shirts still sell. Humanity needs to take a good look at itself and ask why should such wickedness be so ingratiating.

Okay, I’m somewhat familiar with the area. We are both aware of the lovely people in Philly...North Philly especially.

That is absolutely true. Most of the decent people have left the city to the surrounding areas.

“Decency” could strike again but it would need a miracle. But again, the Christian faith (the core, not the trappings) is in the miracle business 24/7/365.

Mine as well. It’s such a memorable scene. The Last Crusade is my favorite of the films. Sean Connery was a great addition as “Junior’s” father.
