I waited with some apprehension for the weekly fundraising call from Republican Party. My response was usually "...here's how much I can send". This time was different. When the young female identified herself, I assertively informed her that "I've switched parties, the Republican Party no longer represents my positions". There was a long pause, she clearly didn't know how to respond. I courteously said "thank you" and hung up.
This moment was the culmination of weeks of contemplation on my relationship to the Republican Party.
I realized that my party had made a conscious decision to abandon its base with the hopes of gaining some kind of illusionary support from the Hispanic populace through supporting an equally illusionary piece of legislation touting "Immigration Reform".
I am a tax-paying, party-supporting, Natural Born Citizen of the United States of America. To have my party turn their back on me and others who share my concerns in favor of coddling to illegal immigrants is not just irrational, it's unforgivable.
My former party has been afflicted by the amnesia that those on the other side of the aisle suffer from. They forget prior commitments made under previous legislation, they allow laws to be selectively enforced, and selectively ignored, and they pass legislation that is as porous as the border itself.
Nothing is more typical of the Republican’s amnesia than the border fence. It is as important symbolically as it is practically. Fences work…they in Israel and they work in San Diego. They work bidirectionally – they impede illegal flow of people, drugs and arms in and out of the country. More than anything, though, a border fence demonstrates a commitment to protect that which we cherish.
I have had enough of the go-along, get-along philosophy of the Republican Party. The Obama administration’s sinister actions in attempting to quell the Tea Party was right in one respect. It is the center of gravity and the source of strength on the right.
It now has my undivided support.

I always tell them that I will send my contributions directly to a candidate who supports my conservative values.—Not to someone supported by rove.
According to my caller I.D., they’ve been calling me about four or five times a day for the last three weeks. I wish I could calm down and be polite the way you were. I just don’t answer the phone because I don’t want to make an idiot out of myself telling them how the cow ate the cabbage. I see no difference between Republicans and DemocRATS anymore. Both parties are sticking it to the taxpayers and the American people. I have no use for either of them.
I’m not yet willing to dump the Republicans but I will not vote for Republicans who give aid to the democrat agenda.
Republicans don’t own my vote. If they are going to treat Conservatives with disrepect and contempt then there will be consequences in the voting booth.
I registered No Party Affiliation after the 2008 elction. I voted for the GOP because of Sarah and not because of McLame.
In 2012 I thot I can no longer keep voting for the lesser of two evils because it is still evil
The stuff that I have seen since 2012 has convinced me I am going the right direction.
I live in Florida and voted for Rubio and Scott, both of whom I was assured were conservatives
After Rubios flip on the amnesty I won’t vote for him again in 2016.
And Scott while doing some good stuff may flip on stand your ground or something
I am kind of at the point unless they have been elected and have a record of staying the course.Why vote for them

Back after the resident in chief got elected the first time and the RINO were taking hold I got a Republican contribution letter. I made my own invoice on all the donations I sent them over the last couple years and demanded my money back for breech of contract. I stopped getting letters (no money back either).
That’s exactly what I do also.
I have a tendency to support local candidates more than national. Local candidates sometimes grow into national candidates.
Here in South Carolina, Tim Scott is a fine example of that: City Council -> SC House -> US House -> US Senate (appointed by Governor Halley to replace Jim DeMint).
And a whole lot better than Linda Graham.
Republicans want our votes, but not our principles.
IMO the GOP stands for nothing and is too far gone to expect any meaningful turnaround. An indpendent Tea Party is the only option left.
Yesterday I went down to the Board of Elections. After 40 years as a registered Republican I changed my party preference to “unaffiliated”.
North Carolina is an open primary state so I will be able to record a preference in the primary.
Neither party has leadership that believes in individual liberty or Christian values. They are corrupt secular statists who worship at the altar of money and power. I came to the conclusion that registering as a member of either party demonstrates my approval of their behavior.
One day a new party will arise with strong principled leadership and dedication to the principles of the founders. Until then, I remain “unaffiliated”.
I returned their last request for a donation with a pointed note scrawled on the form. I’ve not heard from the GOP since.
Thanks for brining up the issue of not identifying with Republicans or GOP or whatever. It has recently occurred to me that, as a Constitution-respecting patriot, I am a RINO, but not the DC kind of RINO.
I remain willing to support Republican candidates who I think will help me by making this a better country. But, I give nothing to the party.
I would be ashamed to be affiliated with either the Demoncrat or the Republitard party.
I heard Mark Levin advise against a 3rd party but if the GOP consistently ignores Conservative voices then we have no choice.
Conservatives are almost like abused wives. Abused wives may get treated nice once in a while but they still get abuse and contempt.
I did the same thing. Just got my new voter card today. IT FEELS SO GOOD.

I disagree with Levin. What on earth does the spineless Republican Party stands for? This country is facing an assault by liberals on the constitution, our laws, and moral decency. Yet the party seems content to appease Democrats and facilitate its own political demise.

I almost always agree with Levin but not about a 3rd party.
Its the only way to send a message.
