As a conservative I wonder whether the Republicans' problem is procedural or testicular?

Security Clearance should be Number One

Thanks neverdem. Keeping the rules simple makes them easier to scrutinize, and additional layers of complexity favor wheeler-dealings.

You can pick the President,

and you can pick your nose,

... but you can’t pick the President’s nose.

“They agree that local parties are “no longer a locus of political power or influence” and blame the Democratic reforms starting in the 1960s.
I would argue that local and state parties were already on life support, which is why they were so easily brushed aside.”

The rise of our national TV media oligarchy “the predatory oligarchic power associated with the media” (Dominique Venner) is the most ignored event in history.

The current process does not ensure that the best candidates will run or be selected. When we have a complicit and manipulative press who will say/print anything to torpedo a candidate they don’t like or fear (Sarah comes to mind) without fear of retribution, the system is inherently flawed and dishonest (witness Obama).

Then, we have the endless primary process and power hungry politicians who will certify a candidate as being eligible to be POTUS without actually verifying that they are (again, Obama comes to mind). Obama was certified by SanFranNan Pelousy and Howwwww - EE-yah Dean). Given how party politics plays into selecting and certifying a given candidate, the certification process should consist of 1)the political party chairman, 2) the Speaker of the House, 3) the Senate Majority Leader and, finally, 4) the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

With these 4 people involved in the certification process, hopefully, another fraud like Obama will never be certified. However, when it comes to politics and politicians, nothing is foolproof. They will always find a way to slither and slime their way around any safeguard.

What we need is a Republican primary electorate with a sense of purpose, duty, mission, and common sense. Instead we have willful “yes-men” who stick repeatedly with “friendly incumbents” of whom they have heard their names.

This should get serious consideration. We’re doing it wrong.

“As a conservative I wonder whether the Republicans’ problem is procedural or testicular”

I would definitely say testicular!!!! Our government has become nothing
more than all of them wanting to remain in office. It is no longer about
representing the people, our founding fathers are turning in their graves
with this BLOATED government!! Founding fathers gave us an amazing
document to save us from tyrannical leaders and it has been S#%T all
over, we all get what we deserve!! We the people LET this happen we
were all sleeping and did not stand up!!! People voting today are illiterate
what the HELL can we do about that!

I hada lib friend in law school who was an advocate of election by lottery. I scoffed at the time, but given what we’ve gotten in the last 25 years I’m beginning to wonder.

Too much focus on who is POTUS. I’d take both houses of Congress in good conservative hands any day over having my favorite in the White House.

Then you would end up with the current mayor of Oakland, CA.
