Activists gearing up for Nugent's New Haven show

NEW HAVEN >> Activists are brainstorming on the next step in response to rocker Ted Nugent’s scheduled appearance in the city next month.

“We’re a city in mourning right now,” longtime activist Barbara Fair said recently.

Nugent, after a Florida jury found George Zimmerman trial not guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was widely quoted as saying the slain youth was a “dope-smoking, racist gangsta wannabe.”

Activists are working to “make it clear” Nugent is not welcome in the city, Greta Boudreau said recently.

“All of us who see Trayvon as our son and brother, when (Nugent) comes riding into town, we intend to ... let him know how we feel about the comments made about Trayvon,” Fair said.

They are also concerned that Toad’s Place did not cancel Nugent’s Aug. 6 show.

“Out of respect for people who are experiencing so much grief, we think that the business that is based in New Haven, that makes money on New Haven people, should not allow him to come here,” Boudreau said.

Toad’s owner Brian Phelps said he’s “the venue guy.”

“We’re just putting on a show,” Phelps said.

“You’ve got a lot of artists that play here, some on the extreme right and some on the extreme left, and if you tell one side or the other, then you’re actually hurting the other side,” Phelps said earlier this week.

When asked to name an act on the other side politically, Phelps said, “I don’t want to get into that.”

Toad’s seating depends on the show, Phelps said. It can accommodate about 750 people, he said.

Asked if the publicity surrounding the Nugent appearance has spurred sales, Phelps said, “I’m not sure of where the advance sales came from, but we do have advance sales, yeah.”

New Haven is a sanctuary city. 'Nuff said.

It's also has a very high incidence of homicides.

They got a nice payout from the state for their troubles.

“longtime activist Barbara Fair”

English translation: long time unemployed waste case who can’t get a real job because she’s a professional pain in the ass.

if there is any trouble at that show I will have no doubt whatsoever that it was caused by liberal RAT plant activists sent forth by the RAT party troublemaking apparatchik.

If he really wanted to get people wrangled, he could invite Zimmerman as a surprise show guest.

“City in mourning ... experiencing so much grief”

What a load of happy, crispy crap! I hope Ted invites George
Zimmerman to come on stage—and turn a high-pressure hose
on these phonys.

"That is the biggest scam of all. There are about 5 people who feel real grief for Trayvon. The other 2 million are seeking a reason to riot and get some new stuff."

I loved my grandma dearly. But 18 months after she passed away, I had come to the "acceptance" phase.

Who the (blank) do these people think they are fooling?

Not ONE of them knew Trayvon, nor is related to him in any way.

They need to spare all of us the "grieving" horseshit.

It's getting really old.

Rocker, yes. I don’t know about womanizer, but Ted Nugent doesn’t do drugs.

I don’t think so. He may have experimented very early on...60s, but he says “no” in his books and in interviews and I believe it.

Ted said nothing “racist”. He was talking about what has been shown about Trayvon, himself. He spoke about the content of character, not the color of skin. The ones who see racism in this statement are the ones who, themselves, assume that he speaks of all young black guys as they (white liberals, usually) are the ones who see them all as “dope-smoking gangsta wannabe’s”.

They see racism in everything because they want to see it. I’m so tired of this rhetoric.

Nobody protests outside of the concerts of rappers or venues of comedians that spew anti-white, anti-woman filth every day of the week. I hope the venue owner stays strong.

So the truth offends these people? Maybe they should try growing up........
