McCain: Fox News is 'schizophrenic'

By HADAS GOLD | 7/31/13 8:58 AM EDT

In a wide-ranging interview with The New Republic, Sen. John McCain called Fox News "schizophrenic" and spoke about his conversations with Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes about immigration.

"I think that Fox News is a bit schizophrenic," the Arizona Republican said in response to a question posed by Isaac Chotiner about how immigration reform is protrayed on Fox News. "I saw a guy on “Hannity,” maybe “Huckabee,” and the guy said, “You know, the Chinese are coming across our border, and they are going to commit cyber attacks.”

"They have to cross the border to do that?" Chotiner asked.

"Honest to God! 'They are going to commit cyber attacks,' McCain said.

When asked what Ailes and Murdoch say about whether the Republican party can "come along" on the issue, McCain said Murdoch is a supporter and Ailes is a realist.

"It is well known that Rupert Murdoch is a strong supporter of immigration reform. Roger Ailes is also a realist. He believes that immigration reform is vital to the country first, but also the GOP," McCain said.

But despite being a realist, Ailes does "not dictate" on the issue, McCain said, noting that Fox News host Sean Hannity has come out against the issue "and kept his job."

"I don’t think Roger Ailes is ham-fisted," McCain said.

McCain also blasted Katie Couric for "shredding" Sarah Palin.

He sure is getting a lot of media attention of late; even more than usual. I wonder what’s going on with that.

I think it's an organized media campaign by the current administration. Instead of Obama taking any flak for the imiigration fraud, the Syria debacle, or any of a dozen other issues they let McCain be their front man. He deflects attention from them and at the same time basks in the limelight that he so pathologically desires it trumps all reasoning on any issue.

Either that or McCain is threatening the GOPe to jump to the Rats if he doesn’t get his way.
I suspect Harry Reid is the one pulling his strings.

Nothing like having your facts nailed down when you are making an argument, right Juan?

Maybe it was on Hannity, or maybe Huckabee.

Or maybe CNN or MSNBC or Al-Jazeera.

Maybe he heard it at the Alzheimers Clinic or it could just be the voices in his head again.

Time to put a name tag on him

Given that mark he wears so proudly, I think "Beast worshiping darksider" describes him and the rest of his kind, but that's kinda long for a name tag.

Uh uh. He was born to two american citizens who were in Panama on military orders and was technically a resident in the U.S. Panama Canal Zone (U.S. Territory). I served through my career with a number of officers who were born in various countries and U.S. Territories under the same circumstances and they are american born citizens eligible to run for the office of the presidency.

I’d rather see him stripped of his citizenship and put aboard a ship to anywhere/nowhere ala “The Man Without A Country” by Everett.

He thought picking her would sink him (he was in for Obama from the start). And he was right, but only after prompting behind the scenes attacks on Sarah. His ‘base’ loved her and he wasn’t prepared for that. So he had to sabotage her through the MSM. And SNL.
