House votes to block IRS from Obamacare role

House Republicans cast a win-win-win vote to go home on Friday — a single bill linking taxes, the IRS and the unpopular Obamacare.

Cuing up the exit music as they leave Washington for what’s likely to be an acrimonious August recess, the House voted 232-185 for a bill that would bar the IRS from any role in carrying out the law or in collecting taxes to help pay for it. Like most of the other 39 House votes against Obamacare, it’s largely symbolic as it won’t make it through the Senate.

The National Republican Congressional Committee will hammer home the tax-IRS-health law triple play message in August television ads. The theme is that the tax agency under fire for improperly targeting conservative political groups shouldn’t have any role in administering the health law. The NRCC also rolled out a new line of green T-shirts that say: “Hey IRS, hands off! My healthcare.”

“The IRS will have access to the American peoples’ protected health care information,” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said Friday morning. “Given that this same agency has illegally disclosed protected taxpayer information, the privacy concerns raised by many are legitimate. This is nothing short of a big government overreach into the most personal aspect of our lives.”

The vote was the finale of a series of measures targeting the scandal-plagued IRS. It’s also part of Speaker John Boehner’s stated strategy of trying to attack the health law’s most vulnerable pieces this summer and fall while picking up a smattering of Democrats in the process. On this vote, only four Democrats — Rep. Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, Jim Matheson of Utah, John Barrow of Georgia and Collin Peterson of Minnesota — crossed party lines.

Boehner has outlined this as an alternative to risking a government shutdown over Obamacare...

"Boehner has outlined this as an alternative to risking a government shutdown over Obamacare funding — an idea that some conservatives are promoting."

In before naysayers.

We already know about the Senate and the POTUS veto, no need to brag. But it does count. It does count because it forces the MSM to report it, and it raises the consciousness, however low it might still be, of the LIVs!

The people in this country need to demand that the IRS has no roll in their healthcare decisions. The “restructuring” IRS has way too many serious “issues” right now. It needs to be reined in and reminded what its mission statement is.

How about a symbolic vote for impeachment of the corrupt and criminal president occupying the white House?

Pass a budget bill that funds everything but Obamacare and the President’s travel and the WH party fund then let the Liar-in-chief veto it and shut down the government. Of course the GOP will be blamed, but so what. Obamacare is unpopular and it will be obvious that Obama is self serving. The Republicans get blamed no matter what and at some of the low information voters will believe this BS, but I think there is enough concern about Obamacare causing people to get cut from full time employment and unions shuddering at what it will do to their Cadillac plans that there will be a sigh of relief when it is defunded.

would point out the criminal activity by the elected. The Constitution is clear on where fund must originate. House only. Tired of the game playing. They do not think anyone is left alive that has read the Constitution.

“unpopular Obamacare”

POLITICO SAID THIS???

Sheesh, maybe we are making inroads after all...

When MSNBC says it, I’m going to start looking for skittle-pooping unicorns ;-)

BS! The only alternative worth even thinking about is to defund nobamacare in the upcoming debates on government funding.

Hey Boehner: just pretend nobamacare doesn't exist. Funding comes from the House. Grow a pair and act like it!

Quite frankly, I'm pissed at y'all for wasting my taxpayer dollars screwing around with resolutions, bills and what have you that will never, ever be addressed by the Senate, let alone nobama.

Do it NOW:
D.E.F.U.N.D. N.O.B.A.M.A.C.A.R.E!!!

A good move, IMHO. Now somebody has to come out against it, and whoever does, pays the price. Reid will be doing what he can to bury this one in the Senate, but even that will have a cost.

If it won’t make it this is the one they should have tied the Congressional obamacare exemption to. This appears to be a stand alone bill that won’t pass the Senate that they can point to in the next five weeks as they tour their districts and tout as saving us from socialism and kep from discussing what can astually be done. Just something to defray criticism until they get back in session and continue to stand by and watch the disassembly of America.
