Progressive radio host and frequent MSNBC guest, Earl Ofari Hutchinson, appeared on MSNBC with Thomas Roberts on Tuesday where he dug into Republican efforts to deflect criticism that state-level voter identification laws are designed to disenfranchise minority voters. Hutchinson said that racially insensitive attacks on President Barack Obama appeal to the GOPs base voters, personified by a rodeo clown who was recently criticized for wearing an Obama mask.
The relentless racial assault on Obama has been the one unyielding constant from the moment that Obama declared his presidential candidacy in 2007, Hutchinson recently wrote on his blog.
Asked to expand on that theme on MSNBC, Hutchinson said that the Republican National Committees effort at rebranding in the wake of the GOPs 2012 loss was undone by a groundswell of opposition among Republican base voters.
He said that it is clear that the GOPs rebranding effort has died a stillborn death and that shows that the Republican Party was always insincere about their stated plan to reach out to minority voters.
The GOP is looking over their shoulder and they know this, Hutchinson opined, they know the protesters at were in Phoenix, they were in Orlando. All of that, and also the clown at the Missouri state fair, even though it seems outrageous and ridiculous and ludicrous, they understand one thing: thats their base. Thats their rank and file.
Hutchinson recently appeared on Al Sharptons radio program where he called Fox News Channel hosts Bill OReilly and Sean Hannity, as well as CNN anchor Don Lemon, professional assassins of African-Americans.

I wonder if the liberals realize how they’ve desensitized this country to any real race discrimination. I would never believe anyone claiming it now. That race card is worn out and threadbare. I can’t help but laugh now every time it’s thrown out there.
Go ahead Hutchinson, rant and rave. Enjoy the moment, feel the power, but know this all the way to your soul... your fantasy WILL end.
I wouldn’t wear an Obama mask to mock the man because it seems sill. With that said, I’ve seen people mocking Presidents with masks for years and years. I’ve seen Nixon masks, Reagan masks, Bush masks (both 41 and 43). I even remember seeing Clinton masks. It’s a part of politics. The guy at the rodea may be weird or over-the-top or whatever, but he’s certainly done nothning that I haven’t seen done many times before in my life. Why are we talking about this rodea clown again?
Someone PLEASE tell this stupid asshat it’s not about race! It’s about the total failure and inexperience of a socialist community organizer be him of purple, yellow, green or blue color...damn it!!!
Oooh. There are some people who just should not do television.
But as to the not-quite-substance of this feller's remarks, it struck me that it's the Democrats who are wearing the 0bummer maskall of them. They have half-black 0bama masks on, in the hopes of insulating their criminal actions from criticism. Notice that there was nothing said during the rodeo sequence about raceexcept by 0bummer's people, who pretended to be shocked.
Reminds one of the really old-school, "You wouldn't hit a man with glasses, would you?" Except it's, "You wouldn't hit a man wearing a designated-victim mask, would you?"
Try me.
Does this mean no more BO Hallowe’en masks? Check the costume offerings for this fall.
No, it's Communist America.
I’m sure he’s trying to make a point . . .
You can only cry ‘Wolf!’ so many times. And you can describe something bad as good, and vice versa, but it only works so many times.
Trayvon Martin, for example, was trouble just waiting to happen but they try to make him something he wasn’t. The jury didn’t buy it. But Leo Pitts still demands “racial justice.”
Here you’ve got a rodeo clown wearing a president mask, as they have done in rodeos over the years with Clinton, the Bush’s, Carter, Reagan and Nixon.
But Obama is some sort of ‘sacred cow.’
The reason they’re so touchy about their boy (Oops! I just don’t care anymore)? Because they know we despise him and—tell the truth and shame the debbil—they are disappointed themselves in him. And in themselves for believing his lies. They swallowed it hook, line and sinker. All of it, the suckers. So they have to make a big show.
They’re not fooling anyone. All this mau-maing is just that: bogus. And Obama ‘s a dud.
Just got through sending an email to: Mostatefair@mda.mo.gov.
These folks had the audacity to send someone like Claire McCaskill to Congress yet find the rodeo clown to be objectionable. Just utterly ridiculous.
Even Harry Truman has to be turning over in his grave.
Still legal products sold in the U.S.S.A
The guys in the arena are there to help and protect the riders. They don’t refer to themselves as rodeo clowns. They call themselves “ bullfighters”. I have met a couple of them, and they are agile, quick and fearless. If people are upset because somebody with those kinds of qualities was wearing an Obama mask, then screw them.
My point exactly! Because the current President is black, mocking him has now become racism? Give me a break. Mocking Presidents can and should continue on as a form of free speech. I hate to say it, but we’ll probably all need to buy Hillary Masks pretty soon....
To be fair, everyone who wore a Bush mask for Halloween between 2000 and 2008 should get the same treatment.
Well if you put 5 pounds of his opinions on one side of the scales and 5 pounds of horse apples on the other they would have equal weight. Oh and the stench would be the same also.
Oh, so all of the Clinton masks with stained blue dresses, the Bush comparison to a chimp, Reagan masks, Nixon masks, were OK, but you can’t wear one of the current president.
