Bill Kristol: Sarah Palin can fix political career with 2014 run
The Politico ^ | August 19, 2013 | Hadas Gold

Sarah Palin could rehabilitate her political career with a 2014 Senate run, Bill Kristol said Sunday.

“I think the way Palin would possibly resurrect herself, if that’s the right word, or rehabilitate herself I guess a better way of putting it, [is] run for Senate in Alaska in 2014,” The Weekly Standard editor said during a Web interview with ABC.

Kristol said the former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee would be “pretty interesting” as a freshman senator after beating an incumbent in an election.

“I’m not urging that, I’m just saying if I were her adviser I would say, ‘Take on the incumbent, you have to win a primary, then you have to beat an incumbent Democrat. It’s not easy.’ But if she did that, suddenly if she can imagine that, you know, ‘Sarah Palin, freshman senator, Jan. 15, in Washington having beaten an incumbent,’ that would be pretty interesting,” he said.

Kristol added that Palin’s departure before the end of her term as governor hurt her leadership image....

To return to the original thought, she must enter the political arena and put it on the line. The Senate election in Alaska is the overwhelmingly logical race.

Of course the Palin Adoration Society will not separate emotion from reality. The reality is that she indeed has tremendous potential power and has used it in small scale ways. The emotion is that her mere announcement of a presidential run will trigger a tsunami of support that will sweep the nation.

She could certainly maintain her current course by her punditry and helping conservatives win election. Her power would remain static.

However, from the Senate, her power would become dynamic. She automatically gains gravitas (remember that??) - which the MSM so cunningly stripped her of.

I'm with you, bert.

The day anyone looks to Bill Kristol for advice should be the day they END their political career.

No kidding!

What, if any, elective office has this Bozo ever held where he placed his name on the ballot

It's a liberal thang. Really, don't you understand that?

Ann Coulter is a great conservative voice?

“You’ve got to be kidding!” (h/t John McEnroe)

Coulter is a full-on liberal RINO who loves/supports leftists like RomneyCare and Crispie Creme.

Toss in her deviant sexual lovers from Bill Maher and muslimes, Coulter is just another leftwing fraud...and not that intellectual as her choices clearly indicate.

No, you've got that wrong.

We here on FreeRepublic are the Reliable, Authentic, Conservative Adoration Society.

Give us a real, authentic conservative willing to fight for their principles and you're right, we'll adore that person.

I can see though, how those pushing compromise on our principles would be concerned about that approach and would do anything they could to belittle and besmirch such people.

It's hard to get your message of compromise out when you've got conservative leaders who just won't get in line.

It's the worst aspect of this board on display with that comment. Who IS this "we"?

Did someone appoint an official spokesman? I did not get the memo.

———willing to fight for their principles -——

There you have it. The telling blow to all your arguments.

Sarah has not demonstrated the willingness to fight, to engage in the political battle. She prefers so far to stand on the sideline and cheer. She is unwilling to engage, to actually play the game.

She shows us her ability to kill a reindeer at 500 yards but she does not show her willingness and ability to take a 100 yard shot at Dingy Harry on the senate floor. Dynamism, action is required to prove ability as a politician

Once again, what does she think? We must conclude she knows she lacks the support to prevail

Your assessment is incorrect. Those here who don’t follow the FR Palin dogma do not hate her. As a matter of fact, I would think we all agree that she is a strong voice with candid and devastating ability to put forth the conservative message.

The evidence presently says Sarah is not willing to put it on the line and become a politician. She presently prefers to remain on the sidelines. Realistically, she presently lacks the national support to be President.

What you perceive as hatred is realistic, rational assessment.

The first time she wipes the Senate floor with dingy Harry, we’ll talk about the future

“People who never voted will come out and support her..millions!!!!! “

Of course they will. Those same millions who turned out for Fred Thompson.
I’m not a Palin hater, but she didn’t run in 2012 because she knew she couldn’t win.
She can’t win in 16 either and all she can do by trying to get the nomination is insure another victory for the Dems.
She won’t win the nomination and her rigorous supporters will retaliate by sitting out.
It’ll be just like 2012 was. Conservatives need to draft one conservative to run and not let half a dozen enter the field, all that does is split the vote and piss off the failed candidates supporters.

Thanks KC_Lion. I doubt that she’ll ever run for office again.

As far as her political career goes — she’s had a full-time political career even since she resigned as Alaska’s governor. She is and has been the lightning rod for the ever-shrinking Demagogic Party, the ever-shrinking Dhimmicrat rank and file, and the imploding Demwit Partisan Media Shills. By doing this, she’s helping us more than she did as the VP candidate.

So, what part of the following concept do you find offensive?

"We here on FreeRepublic are the Reliable, Authentic, Conservative Adoration Society?

Is it the Reliable part? Or the Authentic part, or the Conservative part?

This is a conservative website as stated by the founder, so why would you find it objectionable that I made that statement?

Do you not also value Reliable, Authentic conservatives or are you looking for someone who will compromise with the GOP-E and the Democrats?

And you know that how?

Because she passed on running for President for 2012?

The more I think about it, that has got to be the most laughable thing posted on this thread.

Lacking in any historical proof, in fact, all available historical proof proves the exact opposite.

With her refusal to back down from a fight, she, with the possible exception of Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Mike Lee, and Senator Rand Paul, to a lessor extent, have put all the men of the GOP to shame with her constant take-down of both Zero, the Democrats, and the RINOs in the party.

Could this be why you do not like her?
