"I was under the impression that the African slave trade was the sole responsibility of the Christian Europeans, the White race, that is until I started exploring the subject in great depth..."

"Aided and abetted by the Black converts to Islam"
A recent PBS television offering depicted the horrors of the collection of captive African negroes at ports/beaches, where captives were sold to ship captains and hauled out to anchored ships in small boats/canoes; men, women, husbands wives and children as likely to be forcefully separated as not.
And who had carried out the raids on African villages and captured these unfortunate people? Most likely members of other tribes and Muslim Arabs, would be my guess.
We should deport our feral inner city “Amish” problem children to the Sudan. The folks there know how to take care of these critters.
I wish every black citizen of the US would hear this. They have no idea.
They dismiss this information as lies told by “the man” to “keep them down.”
I don’t have any statistical sources but I do recall watching a show that claimed that in 2013 a record number of people were enslaved worldwide mostly in Africa, the Middle East. The reality of just such a statement makes sense considering the global population of over six billion would require a larger slave population to serve the record number of people on this planet.
“Were?”
I had a young black man after Katrina tell me that there was no doubt that Bush blew up the levees in New Orleans because his N.O. family told him. The reason he did it was to kill blacks.
He was serious as a heart attack!
Gotcha. I was speaking to the more general case. I think there are still too many who teach their little ones that. And would step up to me and tell me I’m racess for thinking that if they knew.
Surprisingly accurate account.
I’m not sure about the numbers quoted for Muslim slave trade or how they were arrived at. They sound somewhat on the high side to me, particularly the death rates.
If background information on these numbers is available, I’d like to see it.
Very few black slaves were sold directly to Europeans by Muslims. This is because throughout the period of the trans-Atlantic slave trade the coast in question was controlled by powerful black pagan kingdoms, who maintained a monopoly on the profitable trade.
Muslims throughout this period, and today, for that matter, are mostly found some hundreds of miles inland, in the sahel and desert, not the coastal jungles.
Until well into the 19th century Europeans did not venture inland at all, so they did not capture slaves themselves. This was because the diseases were so virulent they wiped out European expeditions within weeks. A relatively minor exception was the Portugese, who had some success. This was because the Portugese had imported so many black slaves during medieval period and interbred with them that they acquired some of their genetic immunity.
Some of those sold to Europeans were no doubt captured originally by Muslims, then sold tthrough intermediaries to the coast. But most were captured by other pagan tribes and nations, or were criminals or undesirables sold by their own lords.
I did notice a few internal contradictions and inadequately supported statements.
The video did not mention that slave raids were not aimed solely or even mainly at blacks. Muslims cheerfully raided and enslaved every people they were in contact with, from the nomads of Central Asia to the peoples of Ukraine and the Balkans to European coastal peoples of the Med.
He states “most” black male slaves were castrated, and also that most were put to military use. It is unlikely both statements are true, as eunuchs are generally considered to make poor soldiers.
He states most babies born to black mothers in Muslim lands were killed at birth. I have never seen any actual documentation or proof of this. Islam is very specific that infanticide is contrary to the will of Allah, even the killing of girl babies that was so common before Mohammed in Arabia.
bump
I recall reading that there were more Europeans enslaved in Africa than there were Africans enslaved in America. I questioned the accuracy of that assertion and had intended to verify but never did. Perhaps someone reading this thread could confirm, refute, or perhaps just add to that assertion.
I had not realized how much baggage a black man carries with him until the people elected Obama.
Surely, there must be more blacks like Thomas Sowell, Dr. Ben Carson, and Clarence Thomas than blacks like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Obama. At least I would like to believe that was true.
Not all slaves went into the Atlantic trade. Many went to Muslim countries, across the Sahara, with many dying along the way. The Muslim slave trade had been in place for 600 years before the Atlantic trade started.
Eunuchs were especially prized by Arab buyers, and the process had a high death rate. Generally, men destined to be eunuchs were castrated before the journey, and survivors taken.
There were probably something like 12M Africans shipped across the Atlantic over the three centuries the trade lasted. Somewhere around 17M Africans were shipped (or marched) to Muslim destinations, but of course spread out over 14 centuries or so.
Around 2M Europeans were enslaved by Mediterranean raiders from 1500 to 1900, mostly in North Africa, while perhaps as many more were enslaved from Eastern Europe, but of course few of those went to Africa. The number would have to go up somewhat if you add in for the period from 600 to 1500.
So Africans enslaved in America, total probably ~12M. Europeans enslaved in Africa over 14 centuries, probably <3M. The total of “white people” enslaved by Muslims over the centuries probably at least 50% or more of the number of Africans shipped into the Americas.
I’m unclear if the numbers stated in the video are those enslaved in Africa, or those that were delivered to buyers. Even with a 50% death rate, if the second is true, the total number enslaved would double. Of course, the wars and slave raids and their attendant destruction and resultant disease and starvation probably caused even more deaths than the transit itself.
The conditions on the Sahara route of the slavers were even worse than those in the slave ships across the Atlantic, with a considerably higher death rate. And there’s no particular reason to believe conditions on slave ships in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean were any picnic.
There was also a considerable African slave trade to India, East Indies, SE Asia, etc.
