Yes.

It’s pretty rough, but I DID talk to the Shrink about him and she confirmed my expert diagnosis. ADHD.

I wrote out three simple 16 bar songs for him today:
Ode to Joy by Beethoven
Going Home by Dvorak
Morning by Grieg

By the end of the lesson he could play all three WITH left hand chords.

His mother is in ecstacy.

Woohoo! And hopefully it will give him a sense of accomplishment. How old is he? Been there done that, the ADHD, for a while with a step-nephew.

Getting through to him with music may open the door to other things, at least around you...like manners. d:o)

I think he is 9 or 10. He is smart, no doubt about it, but I have never seen such a hyper kid in all my years of teaching.
