CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — An unarmed man seeking help after a car crash over the weekend was shot 10 times by the Charlotte police officer who's now charged in his death, investigators said Monday. A police news release said Officer Randall Kerrick fired 12 times at 24-year-old Jonathan A. Ferrell early Saturday while responding to a breaking and entering call. Ten of the bullets hit the former Florida A&M University football player. Kerrick was charged with voluntary manslaughter and is scheduled for a first court appearance on Tuesday.

That dirty pig should be strung up until his dirty pig neck breaks.

Cops need to stick to their prescribed responsibilities: Raising money for the Welfare State from innocent citizens attempting to legally go about their day.

Ten hits out of twelve shots? This cop must be the academy pistol champ.

Trigger happy LEOtard. It’s beginning to feel like they use their weapons more frequently on innocent citizens (and their dogs) than they do on criminals.

Of course they do; criminals might shoot back.

Indicative of the kind of people the govt wants to police the citizens; callous, thoughtless, and willing to kill. This particular jackass was simply premature.

At 2:30 a.m., a 200 lb man with blood all over him charges at you and does not stop even after you tell him to stop. Now, you could allow him to close the distance and attempt to prevent him from taking your gun away from you and shooting you. Or you could simply shoot him to take him down. Kerrick made the right decision. Better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

Bullies in badges need to be dealt with. Also, police departments need to do a better job of screening their recruits.

Banging on the womans door, yelling, and when the cops arrived he rushed them and was tazered before they shot him. This is according to our local paper. So it sounds like the guy was on something. And the NAACP is turning it into this weeks trayvon incident.

Cops must be carrying throw-down hoodies.

Kerrick made the right decision.
Police determined the shooting was excessive and charged Kerrick on Saturday. A police statement Saturday said the investigation showed "Kerrick did not have a lawful right to discharge his weapon during this encounter."

That's what the cop said happened.

Whether that's what actually happened remains to be seen.

I suspect that since he was thrown under the bus by his own department, there maybe something else going on that has not yet been released.

Sure is a lot of knee jerk reactions here. It sounds like it may or may not be justified. How about waiting for the facts? I notice the article states that “officers” arrived on the scene. How many? Seems to me that’s relevant. Two cops could feel legitimately threatened. Several cops should have been able to handle it without shooting the guy.
