Come January 2017, if you see Ted Cruz taking the presidential oath of office, youll largely have the Republican Party establishment that hates him to thank for it.
Whether theyre calling his efforts to defund Obamacare a fraud, sending Fox News personalities opposition research to use against him, or simply claiming to f hate him, the sophomoric and treacherous behavior by the GOP establishment has helped elevate the junior Texas senator from a wacko bird beloved by the base to a force of nature capable of something no movement conservative has done since Ronald Reagan.
Not since Reagan has a nonestablishment presidential candidate had the comprehensive worldview and charisma capable of coalescing enough of the conservative/libertarian base to defeat the Republican ruling class in a national primary. As a result, the grass roots has often been splintered, allowing the establishment candidate (John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012) to win a plurality of fractured support to secure the nomination.

He was born in Canada to an American citizen, which makes him an American citizen. McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone and ran for president. George Romney was born in Mexico and ran for president. In all three cases their parents were Americans, which made them eligible to run for president.

I do not know, why our views seem to out of whack with each other.
I suspect it may be simply a matter of timing.
Not sure which of us, is leading however.
I think I am. You believe you are.

It was a long time ago, something having to do with CNN and their bias.
Doesn’t mean much anymore.
I would tell you if it did.

McCain’s health care plan was pretty good as I understood it. In short(I think) govt. would subsidize catastrophic high deductible plans up to 5K out of pocket expenses for those who could not afford health care. This would provide at least a bit of the free markets to operate.

Too much socialism in the system is why we pay as we do.
We need to roll back the effects of previous healthcare “plans”.

I do not know, why our views seem to out of whack with each other. Did you not just hear me tell you that I want the same things you do? Stop insisting that we're in disagreement, when I have NO disagreement with the things you advocate for.
I don't.
Our difference lies in the fact that you think you can change things by simply banging your fist on the table, where I know that it takes changing real world conditions to achieve what we want.

I think Mr. Cruz made a point, but we still do not have a competing Healthcare plan. Without a competing Healthcare plan, we have no competing Healthcare plan. Just saying. --------------------------------------------------------- Republicans Common-Sense Reforms Will LOWER HEALTH CARE COSTS Americans want a step-by-step, common-sense approach to health care reform, not Speaker Nancy Pelosis costly, 1,990-page government takeover of our nations health care system. Republicans alternative solution focuses on lowering health care premiums for families and small businesses, increasing access to affordable, high-quality care, and promoting healthier lifestyles without adding to the crushing debt Washington has placed on our children and grandchildren. Following are the key elements of Republicans alternative plan:
Lowering health care premiums. The GOP plan will lower health care premiums for American families and small businesses, addressing Americans number-one priority for health care reform.
Establishing Universal Access Programs to guarantee access to affordable care for those with preexisting conditions. The GOP plan creates Universal Access Programs that expand and reform highrisk pools and reinsurance programs to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses, have access to affordable care while lowering costs for all Americans.
Ending junk lawsuits. The GOP plan would help end costly junk lawsuits and curb defensive medicine by enacting medical liability reforms modeled after the successful state laws of California and Texas.
Prevents insurers from unjustly cancelling a policy or instituting annual or lifetime spending caps. The GOP plan prohibits an insurer from cancelling a policy unless a person commits fraud or conceals material facts about a health condition. It also prohibits insurance plans from instituting annual or lifetime spending limits.
Encouraging Small Business Health Plans. The GOP plan gives small businesses the power to pool together and offer health care at lower prices, just as corporations and labor unions do.
Encouraging innovative state programs. The GOP plan rewards innovation by providing incentive payments to states that reduce premiums and the number of uninsured.
Allowing Americans to buy insurance across state lines. The GOP plan allows Americans to shop for coverage from coast to coast by allowing Americans living in one state to purchase insurance in another.
Codifying the Hyde Amendment. The GOP plan explicitly prohibits all federal funds, whether they are authorized funds or appropriated funds, from being used to pay for abortion.
Promoting healthier lifestyles. The GOP plan promotes prevention & wellness by giving employers greater flexibility to financially reward employees who adopt healthier lifestyles.
Enhancing Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). The GOP plan creates new incentives to save for future and long-term care needs by allowing qualified participants to use HSAsto pay premiums. lowing dependents to remain on their parents policies. The GOP plan encourages coverage of young adults on their parentsinsurance through age 25. Scorecard: Speaker Pelosis Government Takeover vs. GOP Common-Sense Solutions
Speaker Pelosis Bill GOP Alternative
Job Losses Up to 5.5 million 0
Medicare Cuts $500 billion 0
Tax Increases $729.5 billion 0 **Authorized by House Republican Leadership**

Americas healthcare is far, far too expensive. Healthcare is far too expensive precisely because government got involved in the first place. It's worked the same way for education, housing, farm lands, etc. The costs of anything that is subsidized grows much faster than the rate of inflation.

I hate to break it to you but McCain's plan was mostly a joke!
He was basically trying to thread the needle but without using the free market. He, like so many other entrenched establishment Pubbies, especially, mistrust the American people's ability to spend their own money in a way that benefits themselves - and I, for one, am sick to death of it.
Yes, according to the McCains in DC, the American people can be trusted to get up, go to work, have a party on weekends and pay taxes but when it comes to making serious decisions about providing for their own medical decisions, well we're just not sophisticated nor qualified to make those life and death (picking out our own doctors and determining between the two of us, determining what to do to treat our contact dermatitis, or hernia operation, or knee replacement surgery) decisions.
That's why we elect them! They will know what's best for us, just ask them!!!
Why, if it weren't for John McCain and Chuck Schumer, who knows what might happen when Billy, Jr. falls and breaks his leg.
You, his dad, aren't capable of making that decision, you need Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid telling you how to handle everything, just ask John McCain, he'll agree.
Leave those weighty decisions to strangers and lawyers at that, telling you what's the best for your son, oh, and your neighbors to pay for it
