My prediction is that enough of our 60% consumer economy will be sucked into increased health care costs that we will we a repeat of the last two years of the carter admin. 0 will gives speeches pretending that he is not the problem but the stink will be on him.

My mother-in-law got a letter from horizon today. She lost Medicare Advantage plan. The blowback will be astronomical.

I’ve heard that Baucus gets credit for it. But I was under the impression that some economist type from MIT wrote it. I remember skimming an article where the guy came out and said that it was doomed to fail. Makes you wonder if they put it together as some sort of sick joke to see what they could get away with and now we seem to be stuck with it.

This man has written one of the most strategic political visions I have read to-date.

I don’t know if I am misremembering or not but when Beck was at FOX he exposed who was behind/wrote the healthcare law.

It may take me a while but I’m digging through YouTube in hopes of hunting that particular show down.

Who actually wrote Obamacare? I can’t seem to find a definitive answer.

Good question. And the answer is vital.

Recall that a 2000 page bill seemed to materialize mysteriously in Henry Waxman's desk drawer not long after the Dems took over everything in 2008.

Clearly, somebody had prepared for this moment. Subsequently, It was found that the original House bill -- the single payer version -- had been drafted by something called The Apollo Group.

The Apollo group was a sinister collection of left-wing thinkers and activists, including the likes of William Ayers, e.g.

Recall that this was the bill that passed the House -- after another 800-or-so pages had been added to it. But it got stymied in the Senate -- chiefly thanks to Joe Lieberman's insistence on involving (and protecting) the insurance interests in Connecticut.

Since, at the time, Lieberman held the 60th vote, the 'Rats had to totally change directions in mid-stream -- creating the current monstrosity. This bill appears to be the product of the 'Rat senatorial staff. And, obviously, it was badly botched -- due to competing interests, the pressure of time and the enormity of the project.

However, it was hastily passed by the Senate -- before Scott Brown, who had become the 41st vote against Obamacare, could be seated.

The House then had to swallow the Senate bill whole -- because of Brown's election. Which required Bart Stupak to famously fold on abortion...and subsequently retire to a cushy lobbyist job.

Understand that the current disaster of a bill -- involving insurance companies and forced upon the 'Rats by Joe Lieberman -- is not the single-payer solution they really wanted in their heart-of-hearts.

Consequently, any attempt to "fix" Obamacare will be designed to return the system to single-payer.

Obamacare was written in 1993 and 1994 but back then it was Hillarycare. I dated a woman who was working with a consultant for an education arm of the AMA from 1994 to 1997 (a redheaded knockout BTW). They had a few different orgs, think tanks as well as advocacy groups like PP and CSPI and a union group as well as a “gay” group. They all had a hand in writing this and it was shoved in a drawer in 1995 and barely touched until it was dusted off after the 2006 nightmare.

IMO, it was still in parts, unlinked and uncollected. It was done, for the most part, before the internet and e-mail was mainstream so there was not “one single copy” in existence on a server somewhere that was reconciled with all the existing legislation at the time. (It was probably on 5 1/4” floppys). This didn’t have one manager but it was compiled using a list created by disparate groups with the intention of bringing it all together in 1995 but the people voted the dems out and it got shoved aside.

To answer your question, it wasn’t written, it was compiled and it was never actually read through and reconciled because that task became an after thought. I kept hearing “it’s better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission” whenever I had to interact with those people so I imagine that this current progression of surprise revelations was what they expected all along. It was a lot like the trillion dollar stimulus bill which was just a collection of democrat party payoffs that piled up in the party members desks over the years that they could not pass under GWB. They just turned it into a list, formatted in 8 1/2 x 14 and passed it.

IMO, they tried to make sense out of it but since the window was closing (2010 elections) they had to move and just passed the collection of individual sheets of paper in legal format with hopes that they could reconcile it later, in various committees which is why they language “as the Secretary of HHS shall deem” is in there so often.

When this mess goes down the crapper, Democrats are going to own it lock, stock, and barrel.

Democrats will happily admit that Obamacare is down the crapper then say, "See, we must do more".

Who wrote Romneycare? IIRC, that was the starting point.

My vote would be for union lawyers and rat senate staffers and all were challenged each day to 'come up with something else we can put in to screw the capitalists'.

This is an excellent commentary on the matter.

Cruz has brought attention to the negative side of Bambicare better than almost anyone in the past years.

Now if the so called GOP insiders would just stop their whining, realize the moment, the message would travel to almost everyone in the US.

I know, I know, but I can dream......it's STILL good what he did.

Is that what the Senate Republicans are hoping for? That the pain of implementation will be so bad that people will come running back to Republicans?

The old GOP died when Romney lost in 2012.

We are just now finally casting off the dead weight of the old GOP.

Their lingering stench was decreased a lot this week by nice cool breezes coming out of TEXAS and Utah.

IIRC at the time Obama was trying to get “Little Tommy Daschle” into whatever position (I can’t remember at this instant) he was trying to get him into early on in the first four of the Obama debacle it was stated as a reason for his choice it was due Daschle’s involvement in the healthcare bill, and his knowledge of the program as he was so heavily involved in its conception.

I believed from that statement, and Daschle’s prior involvement with the Clinton’s, and that Healthcare debacle that he was a lead in the creation of the mess.

“... the Republicans will begin to feel the heat from their constituents over lack of services back home, ...”

As I've mentioned in related threads, if the federal government was complying with its constitutionally limited powers, one of the few things that citizens would actually be inconvenienced with in the event of a federal government shutdown is the temporary distuption of the US mail service.

Otherwise, most other government services that federal lawmakers are now threatening will be disrupted are actually based on 10th Amendment-protected state powers which the corrupt federal government has wrongly stolen from the states.
