WWII Memorial Barricade Wired Shut
Weekly Standard ^ | OCT 4, 2013 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Posted on 10/04/2013 7:54:51 AM PDT by MeshugeMikey

Tuesday morning, seven National Park Service employees were seen erecting and tending to a barricade around the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. One NPS employee was operating a forklift. There usually aren't any NPS employees working at the World War II memorial.

A couple hours later, when an Honor Flight of World War II veterans arrived, accompanied by Democratic and Republican members of Congress, the fences blocking the memorial were easily moved away, allowing the veterans to enter.

But the barriers are still at the memorial, and they've been reinforced. This morning, I walked by the memorial and noticed that wires had been used to tie the fences together:

WND EXCLUSIVE

Obama behind ‘barrycades’ at WWII monument
New wave of veterans storms memorials in Washington
Published: 2 days ago

“This administration thinks this is a political game,” Rep. Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, said on Fox News Wednesday. “This is outrageous. This is a sidewalk. Leave it open.

“And I’m wondering what are they going to do next — hang a drapery over Mt. Rushmore? I mean, this is ridiculous!”

Gohmert said the open areas should be accessible to passersby even if lights and fountains are turned off.

He also offered a solution for similar problems.

“For those of use who voted to create memorials and have oversight, we’re authorized to go in and inspect them, even if it’s a surprise inspection,” he said.

And the best “inspectors” for such work?

“World War II veterans are the very best people,” he said.”

They went through much more than wired together Barrycades at Normandy; while fighting against another evil oppresive government.

Does President Obama really want that public relations nightmare on his hands?

It's all about the spin. The MSM will report that despite all of Obama's best efforts, the GOP has shut down the government. And it is the shutdown that has closed parks. Therefore, the GOP is to blame for closing the WW II memorial.

The VFW and the American Legion need to step up, and right now. Perhaps also the Vietnam and Iraqi vet groups. America has trust in those organizations, and will listen.

This bastard is starting a revolution.

“A couple hours later, when an Honor Flight of World War II veterans arrived, accompanied by Democratic and Republican members of Congress”

This is the first I recall reading that there were any Democrats there - the various stories I’ve read about and heard/seen on FNC - all congresscritters were Pubbies.

Apologies for being a bit dense and confused. They were FOR closing them, before they were FOR opening, before they were FOR wiring them shut?? I thought I had been following this story, but have obviously missed somthing.

On about Oct 2nd,the WA Post reported:

National Park Service to keep WW II Memorial open to veterans

“At the closed-off National World War II Memorial, two days of assaults by veterans prompted the National Park Service to announce that they had the legal right to be there and would not be barred in the future.”

As reported by 2ndDivisionVet on the thread below

“Tom Hanks Praises World War II Veterans for Breaching DC Memorial”

If Hanks could bring himself to join the vets at the memorial, that could be a game-changer. No speeches Tom, no indirect attempts to blame the GOP, just be there. Stand with the vets.

This thin wire....

It is a message from our president to its people. The state now owns all the freedoms generations have fought for. What are you going to do about it?

What are we going to do? Is this what Americans really want?

Being the then spouse of an active duty air force officer in the early 2000’s I found myself sitting next to a WW2 vet waiting to see a dermatologist at a military hospital. He began to tell me a story. He was an Air Force pilot flying missions over the Pacific against the Japanese. He told me how his best friend was also a pilot and their wives were best friends too. He then began to tell me about the day he saw his best friend shot down into the Pacific while they engaged with the Japanese and he began to tear up. I told him God bless him for his freedom... He didn’t want my thanks...only for us to remember. These are the men being kept out of the WW2 memorial.

Will we remember? This thin wire....

Finally we see how low this administration truly is. We already know they have no respect for babies, and now we see our father’s and mother’s, grandfather’s and grandmother’s hearts broken for nothing more than brinksmanship. The Whole Life System as a philosophy.

A SPECIAL place in Hell.

Shows you the deep disdain this administration has for our veterans and for this country. Not “his” country.
