Best Talking Points for Shutdown/Obamacare

OK, what are the best shutdown/Obamacare talking points out there? Seems like it would be good to make a list.

Feel free to post or link to your favorites, as appropriate.

My suggestion:

What has the shutdown shown us? That the federal government will attempt to force public opinion to go its way by intentionally hurting ordinary, everyday citizens. (Obama closes parking spaces at private Mt. Vernon, shuts and blocks access to scenic overlooks, closes private businesses on public land, shuts national parks while refusing offered state and/or private funding to keep them open, shuts down government web sites, blocks off and guards open air monuments, and even claims to close wide open stretches of ocean--all while leaving his preferred air force golf course open, and his Obamacare websites up--while Reid refuses to fund NIH's ongoing cancer trials when offered the chance.)

If this is how our "public servants" behave when taxpayers rebel, why would anyone want them to control healthcare, ever?

We're doing better than holding our own:

Do you think Republicans in Congress are doing too much, too little or about the right amount to compromise with Pres. Obama and Democrats in Congress on a budget plan to end the shutdown?
Too much . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .10%
About the right amount . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .30%
Too little . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .48%
Not sure . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 13%

It's within the margin of error, but more people think they're "compromising too little" than us.
We can easily build on that by getting the Dems to vote on the 'minibills'.

No shutdown would occur if we didn’t need a continuing resolution, and no continuing resolution would be needed if the Harry Reid Senate passed a budget, as required by law (and which they haven’t done for five years).

1) Obama the spiteful (make this as “painful as possible”)

2) The house passed bills (just like normal appropriations) to fund different ‘essential’ functions of government.

2) Obama, Reid and the Dems (consequently; pursuant to #2) want to starve Children and single mothers (won’t bring up WIC funding)

3) Obama, Reid and Dems want don’t want children and others to have their lives saved through vital cancer research

4) Obama, Reid and the Dems want our veterans to starve, and not to have proper medical care.

5) Obama, Reid, Dems are TRYING to stop veterans, tourists, and average Americans from enjoying OUR Ntn’l heritage.

6) Obama, Reid Dems don’t want to PAY furloughed government workers (I know that this would be common sense in the real world - but in the gov. world if you don’t work; you get paid).

7) Obama is trying to scare the markets on both the CR, and more importantly the DEBT LIMIT. (We need to pass Rand Paul’s Bill which would guarantee payment of the interest on the debt)!

I am sure I am missing some...

And the momentum has clearly shifted to the Republicans.

Every 24 hours, the margin in our favor is going to grow.

Obama and Dingy Harry are in trouble...and it's getting deeper by the day.

8) They said “We have to pass it to find out what’s in it.” This is what was in it.

Ask ‘em “How can we be having Obamacare if we’ve got to shut down the federal gummint to the point of tossing WWII Vets out of THEIR memorial?”

Isn’t Obamacare part of the federal gov’t? And aren’t we having a federal gov’t shutdown?

(stand back in case brains explode!)

The Regular Order is the proper method for budget development and approval because there is no disruption for agencies that had their budget approved. For the fiscally irresponsible Senate to dictate to the House of Representatives how they should originate spending bills is disingenous, unethical, or illegal.

Reid has failed to prepare a Budget for five years in a row!

Until five years ago, the government was funded through the appropriations process, called Regular Order (piecemeal). Around a dozen separate appropriations bills, each covering one or two federal agencies, made their way through Congress. Some passed through Congress easily. Others took much longer and witnessed more sustained and impassioned debate, and sometimes a government shutdown, as occurred 7 or 8 times when Tip O'Neil was Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Democrats are mindlessly defending Obamacare. Even today few have read the law, one documented example is Mark Warner, Democrat, Virginia. The Democrats know that the passage of the Affordable Care Act was contentious and characterized by coercion, bribes, threats, and promises to many Democrats. Few, if any, read or fully understood what was in the law. Now, as Pelosi, says it is opening like a flower so we can all see how the economy and health industry are being destroyed. President Obama himself has unilaterally delayed portions of the bill.

Yet, there is no acknowledgement that this is happening by the current Obama Administration or Harry Reid. They refuse to negotiate or even acknowledge that they, themselves, have a role in the stalemate they created. They are exposing themselves as mean-spirited and vindictive toward the American people, especially or WWII and Vietnam veterans. They have forgotten who they work for; insulting the "little" people is unforgivable, as is their refusal to fund the DC government, veterans, and the park service.

The Main Stream Media have their heads in the sand. Administration officials are tight lipped about its "IPO" problems. Problems the administration has had three years to solve. The MSM has failed to tally the damage to jobs, citizens, and the economy produced by an unworkable, unfair, and ineffective law. The MSM has failed to identify the scores of Democrats would like the law gone. The MSM are being exposed again as nothing but a Democrat propaganda machine.

No, I am not in the media, but people in the media read FR. (And sometimes a short statement can start a conversation more easily than a long one.)

..... Rather than the standard mantra being vomited out by the GOP talking heads repetitively uttering "Defund Obamacare NOW" and "Obamacare is costing this country too much!" Without educating the audience as to WHY .... the electorate is left scratching their collective heads why those MEAN SPIRITED Republicans are insisting that Obama's FREE HEALTHCARE is to be taken from them if those evil Teabagers have their way!! In short ..... Our arguments have to be customized and personalized for the general public.... not towards the educated conservatives and only our representatives that are wading in this mess.

.... It is my contention that America MUST be educated as to WHY!!!! It is still evident that the vast majority of Americans are absolutely still in the dark that they and their families are personally about to take a substantial monthly financial hit as a direct result due to that promised "Affordable Healthcare Act."

.... The GOP absolutely needs to be verbally telling the media wonks and direct their comments to the public saying that "The AVERAGE American simply CANNOT afford the additional monthly and yearly cost added to the already stressed family budgets as a result of the Unaffordable Healthcare act.!!!"

...... This will definitely get the attention of the low information voters as well as the general public. They are simply not being told this outside of the Talk Show circuit which generally only preaches to the proverbial choir!

That’s like saying about food, “You have to pass it to find out what’s in it”.

I am having a lot of luck with this:

You are being played, America. The Truth shall set you free.... all the republicans have been asking for is a 1-year delay to the individual mandate and fines like the president gave to businesses... that’s all they are asking for... go to house.gov to verify.

This is a running tally of recent measures passed by the GOP House of Representatives and defeated or blocked by Senate Democrats. The Democrats and President Obama refuse to negotiate with Republicans to fund our government.

• SEPTEMBER 20, 2013 Continuing resolution: keeps the government running at current spending levels and strengthens our economy by defunding the president’ health care law.

• SEPTEMBER 28, 2013 Continuing resolution: keeps the government running at current spending levels and strengthens our economy by delaying the president’s health care law by one year, and permanently repealing ObamaCare’s tax on pacemakers and children’s hearing aids.

• SEPTEMBER 28, 2013 Pay Our Military Act: ensures our troops would be paid in the event of a government shutdown.

• SEPTEMBER 30, 2013 Continuing resolution: keeps the government running at current spending levels; ensures there’s no special treatment for Congress under the president’s health care law; and delays ObamaCare’s individual mandate, providing all Americans with the same relief the president has given big businesses.

• SEPTEMBER 30, 2013 Continuing resolution: insists on plan to fund the government running at current spending levels; ensure there’s no special treatment for Congress under the president’s health care law; delays ObamaCare’s individual mandate, providing all Americans with the same relief the president has given big businesses; and requests a formal House-Senate conference to resolve differences.

• OCTOBER 1, 2013 Speaker Boehner appoints negotiators to a formal House-Senate conference.

• OCTOBER 2, 2013 Provide Local Funding for the District of Columbia Act: allows our nation’s capital to continue operating using its own funding. Open Our Nation’s Parks and Museums Act: opens all of our national parks and museums, including the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC that was initially closed to veterans by the administration. Research for Lifesaving Cures Act: provides funding for the National Institute of Health, which is responsible for lifesaving medical innovations and cancer research.

• OCTOBER 3, 2013 Pay Our Guard and Reserve Act (H.R. 3230): ensures the government shutdown doesn’t affect pay for our National Guard and Reserve. Honoring Our Promise to America’s Veterans Act (H.J. Res. 72): provides immediate funding for critical veterans benefits and services, including disability claims, education and training, and more.

Also having a lot of luck with this one:

exc: “Not only are viewing the baseball playoffs and all pro and collegiate football games shot down in flames, all troops deployed outside of the United States from wide-eyed 17-year-old Privates to salty Sergeants Majors won’t be viewing basketball, golf and even professional rodeo and bull-riding.”

I have been experimenting with a lot of stuff for awhile now... without much success. But in the last few days, I have just been posting the really petty, ugly stuff about obama and the democrats and getting a lot of cha ching from it...

The average person is lost in all the verbiage, etc. But they easily understand what nastiness is... one guy yesterday asked me - almost a quote: are you absolutely sure the republicans haven’t defunded the govt? I sent him a few links and he was amazed and appalled... took about 15 minutes while i was multitasking...

my sig on my posts is: “you can never think too little of obama and the democrats”.. going to hit reid hard this week, the amber alert vs michelle’s website up... and personal horror stories... the tide is at least listing a bit...

ps most people are absolutely stunned when you explain - briefly - how the dems and obama haven’t passed a budget in four years... i keep it light and always ask if they would like a source link...
