SERIOUSLY? National Park Service spitefully removes handles from water fountains

By Marshall Connolly, Catholic Online (NEWS CONSORTIUM) 10/8/2013

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Until very recently, the National Park Service was one of the least-loathed government agencies in the country. Now, with orders from on high to keep the public from visiting beloved parks and monuments the agency is developing a poor reputation.

.....

It what looks like a spiteful move, the NPS even removed handles from water spigots along the Chesapeake and Ohio canal where bikers and joggers exercise as well as along the Great Allegheny Passage, just to ensure people don't get any water from them...

If that SOB Nazi ranger had screamed at me and stuck his finger in MY face, I would screamed right back at him with language that would make a Marine and a long shoreman both blush.

I also would have told him if he doesn’t get his finger out of my face, he will be giving himself a prostate exam with his detached finger.

Damn tyrants.

“So why didn’t they just close the supply valves?”

That wouldn’t send the same message, would it?

Sure it would send the same message,,,no water for the peasants. Did anyone see Rangers doing it? The article doesn’t mention any witnesses. NPS Rangers have already done a lot of horrible and spiteful things in the name of their Master. Things we KNOW they have done. They might have done it, we just don’t know. (if they did do it, i imagine they would be thumping their chests and bragging about it)

I appreciate what you're saying.

So regardless of the culprit's identity, have the Rangers replaced the missing handles? It's not as if they're too busy these days.

I live near the "public lands" in question. Maybe I'll risk the $100 fine this weekend and have a look.

Someone needs to do a “Hitler finds out” vid - people are still using the parks.

lepton - read the Greenfield piece at the link below... It explains the ‘why’ to Obama’s meanness... You’ll love it:

“There are few moments that sum up the meanness of spirit of the Obama Blockade as well as a park ranger angrily telling senior citizens to get back on the bus and stop taking photos because they are engaging in forbidden “recreating”.”

I don’t know what else that Communist Act added — however, park rangers have long been law-enforcement commissioned. They were in a separate category from the generalist park ranger (e.g. interpreter, fee collector), but they’ve long had police powers. They were proud to take over the title of “park ranger” (so that no one else working for the NPS was “really” a “park ranger” anymore, and instead, almost treated like a second-class citizen). The general public was too asleep to notice.

Thank you. For how hyperbolic it sounds, or especially would have sounded a couple of weeks ago, it makes a disturbing amount of sense.

So why didn’t they just close the supply valves?

If they did that, people might mistakenly think that there was something wrong with the water system. Taking the faucet handles off lets people know that it's being done deliberately. Doing that lets people know who's in charge.

I’m not the least bit worried about the US Military. But remember Obamuzzie said he wanted a civilian security force as well-funded and large as the military. I suppose the NPS would have the makings of a couple battalions. Notable thing about that tho is that, unless they start living in barracks, they have to live among the rest of us. And that’s never easy for in ingrownprick to do. Especially with a record of pushing people around.

Any candidate who promises to work to get rid of all of the National Parks has got my vote.
********************************************************************
Give them to the State(s) in which they are located with a “must maintain as a Park” caveat. Hell, many of them are profitable (fees, etc.) anyhow.

Give them to the State(s) —— but only after arranging for the FIRING every last Park Service employee. And no more damn pay raises for them in the interim!

Removing the service handle on a fountain does not prevent damage. They have to remove the supply (there must be a shutoff somewhere) and at least partially drain the fountain to prevent frozen pipes bursting.
