Healthcare Navigators Battling Dedicated Obstructionists—and Fox News
Non-Profit Quarterly ^ | October 9, 2013 | By Rick Cohen

Posted on 10/10/2013 7:53:51 PM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

The fate of the Affordable Care Act, notwithstanding obstructionism by the Republicans and the nine House Democrats, depends strongly on the success of efforts to get uninsured people to enroll for health insurance.

First and foremost in making this happen are the navigators.

There’s no reason to let the Obama administration off the hook for its own responsibility in making the work of the navigators tough, what with navigator grants that were announced only in August with training materials issued in September for the October 1st start-up of the exchanges, not to mention embarrassing computer glitches. Since the nonprofit sector plays a lead role in the navigators’ function, the treatment and support of the navigator groups is critically important for the nonprofit sector to watch, making sure that health insurance obstructionists don’t make nonprofit navigators into fall guys.

The importance of the navigators cannot be understated. Their success isn’t important just for the Affordable Care Act, but for the reputation and trustworthiness of nonprofits as government contractors. All of us have a duty to counter misinformation about the ACA navigators from the likes of Fox News and the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Perhaps the author potential impact on reputation/trustworthiness of nonprofits as government contractors of the Federal Government’s ban on background checks and especially the ban on questions or background checks regarding applicants or criminal arrest history and felony convictions for Navigators, who are given unprecedented and unsupervised access to the IRS database,

You just can’t make this stuff up.

(hauntingly similar to FDR’s)

Hauntingly similar to Stalin's you mean, even to the blame for continual failure placed on "wreckers".

Hmmmm. Navigators? Hmmmm. Can you spell ACORN? I knew you could.

It took 17 posts for someone to state the first thought that came to my mind when I saw this.

How many, out of the dismally low enrollment numbers to date, were paying customers and not Medicaid (no payment required) recipients?

In Washington State it is running close to 50:50. A little less than half are Expanded Medicaid and a little more than half are completed enrollments for exchange policies (but waiting for the first month's premium to be paid).

To me the fact that they need “navigators” proves the overreaching complexity of the law and its processes. Just design a system that does not need navigators!

Ah, yes, the Navigators.
So nice to see the ACORN folks get a gig in the vote-fraud off-season.
Too bad their pay continues to come out of the tax payers' pockets.
I really don't appreciate being forced to fund the destruction of the world's greatest healthcare system and the economy of the nation.

We will soon hear that the reason the on line system is not working is because of outside hacking by the teaparty. Ineptness has nothing to do with it

Ben Carson: Obamacare is ‘Slavery’
ABC News ^ | October 11, 2013 | Abby D. Phillip

Posted on Friday, October 11, 2013 3:12:28 PM by 2ndDivisionVet

Ben Carson is probably best known for his work as a neurosurgeon, but in recent months he has become a conservative firebrand and today he offered some controversial red meat to the audience at the Values Voter Summit in Washington.

Carson, who is a contributor to Fox News, assailed president Obama’s health care law, saying it is akin to slavery.

“I have to tell you, you know Obamacare is really, I think, the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery,” Carson said. “And it is slavery in a way because it is making all of us subservient to the government.”

Carson, who is African American, went on to say that the administration’s push toward Obamacare is reminiscent to a push toward socialism.

“It was never about health care, it was about control,” Carson said. “That’s why when this administration took office it didn’t matter that the country was going off the cliff economically. All forces were directed toward getting this legislation passed.

“Vladimir Lenin, one of the fathers of Socialism and Communism, said that socialized medicine is the keystone to the establishment of the socialist state,” he added...

Only “hundreds” have been able to sign up for a health care plan at the Obamacare websites. The Wall Street Journal reported:

Okay now we will try the landline # 1-800-318-2596 listed above or 1-800-318-2596 = 1-800-FAU-CKYO.

Yes... Mrs. Wasp and I are both very fond of Dr. Carson! In fact we follow his every public act with great admiration and concern!! He belongs to the same church that she and I were raised in and he is deeply concerned about religious liberty (1st Amendment issue #1) and the moral attributes of this nation that are progressively being abandoned!!!

He wants freedom of religious faith, not freedom from it!!! His reference to the ACA as a form of slavery to the government is positively profound!!!
