Republican congressman goes ballistic on Ted Cruz - "We have to cut this guy off now"

Appearing on MSNBC on Friday, Congressman Peter King continued his epic verbal assault on Ted Cruz — and, to a lesser extent, Rand Paul — by describing the Texas Senator as a “RINO” (Republican in name only) and a “fraud.”

Speaking with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, King called the ongoing government shutdown “the strategy of Ted Cruz” and wondered aloud “why more Republicans around the country didn’t join me in denouncing Ted Cruz” before the shutdown began. “We cannot allow our party to be taken over by the likes of Ted Cruz and Rand Paul,” King continued, describing Cruz and Paul as “isolationists” and “RINOs” who “don’t represent traditional Republican principles.”

The elite don’t like it when rabble rousers come to town. It is between elections. This is supposed to be the time when the REAL RINOS get together with the Rats and do all their crappy deals while flyover watches American Idol. Except the Tea Party don’t watch American Idol. We are getting p’od from all the pissed on we been getting.

Peter King rose from the ranks of a Republican dominated Nassau County. Town of Hempstead to be specific. If you worked for the town back then you had to pledge your allegiance to the party before getting hired. Once you were hired you were required to buy tickets to every fund raiser they held. If you wanted to get ahead you had to “volunteer” to work on campaigns. There was a big scandal about this years ago. He escaped unscathed. ( I know I was there)

He is now testing the waters for a presidential run. He should probably primary against Hillary the way he acts.

If what you stand for as republican principles, then you are more liberal than you think...

I hope the few republican “conservatives” in NY pay attention to this...But then again, I will not hold my breath...This hump may very well win another term, thanks to the political attention span of his constituency...

Like Lindsey Graham, he morphs himself at will for political survival and job security.

And speaking of Graham, his "good cop - bad cop" routine with John McCain is worn out and needs to go.

I think King’s animosity is absolutely personal—he is behaving childishly.

Peter King exemplifies the Republican party. He, and his buddies (members of the good ole boy club) can’t stand the fact that the voters have “infested” the party with some actual conservative (and moral) representatives who actually represent the people...not the club.

They have been in office for so long that they think they actually OWN the Republican party and these young “upstarts” don’t pay the proper respect to “their betters” in the party.

When I worked in the government I remember many times that I was called a “boat rocker” or “you don’t row the boat with the rest of us” or simply “you are a troublemaker.”

The only reason I was disliked (or feared) was the fact if I saw something wrong, I pointed it out and refused to do it.

I was in management and after 8 years I quit and started my own business.

It is apparent that the Republican-E hates anyone who “rocks the boat” and who may actually threaten their standing with special interests and crony capitalists.

There is a massive disconnect between republican politicians and republican voters. Either get on the Cruz bus or get the heck out of the way.

We’ve tried the ‘taking back our party’ route, in the most recent 2 elections.

Upon the advice of so many SAGEs that third party is dead sentence etc etc.

For all intents and purposes, GOP is dead. Some may not realize it yet.

I agree. I live in NY and I tell people all the time if you see republican and NY in a guys title the proper pronunciation is Democrat. The republicans from NY would be democrats in any sane state. NY is so far gone now we will be left of California soon.
