Anyone think Boehner will convene impeachment hearings if Obama misses a payment?

No. They didn't the first 99 times he broke the law. Or every time since.

Nonsense. If we default, it’s because he’s choosing to. Just like he chose to close open-air monuments for no apparent logical reason.

By the way, is no one able to penetrate the truth that default really means not paying the interest on the debt, and we’re not going to do that?

What about the rest of the people we owe money too? The companies that sell the government fuel, food for the troops, munitions, toilet paper, rents building space, provides electricity and other utilities? If they have a contract to provide it and the government doesn't pay them then are you saying the government isn't in default? What about military pay and pensions? What if we don't pay those - default or no? Social Security and Medicare are non-discretionary expenses. Wouldn't failure to pay those be default?

Every television station is reporting that we will run out of money on Thursday.....why aren’t they saying that we run out of borrowed money on Thursday? Majority of street dummies don’t get it.

The way it has been ‘splained is that a technical default is the failure to pay interest on the debt.

that isn’t going to happen, unless the Clown chooses not to pay the interest.

I was in the presence of a liberal yesterday and he asked me if I was one of those Tea Party people - I said yes and Ted Cruz would be president in 2016. He said that would be a disaster that Cruz is one of those very right wing crazy people.

I will not argue with these dead set liberals but he said he wants to talk to me again about politics. His father is a friend of mine and I was there to see him as he is very ill and will die soon. I may see this liberal again due to that. This liberal is smart and it’s hard for me to see how a smart person could be so screwed.

We'll just have see what Obama decides to spend taxpayer revenues on !!

It's not like there will not be money for the nation's interest on its debt, there's that and much, much more.

The way it has been ‘splained is that a technical default is the failure to pay interest on the debt.

If I pay some of my bills but don't pay the others then I'm in default, no technicality about it.

Two thirds of the federal budget is non-discretionary, legislatively mandated spending. Interest on debt, believe it or not, is not in that category. The roughly $144 billion in Medicare and Social Security payments for the month will have to be paid before debt or military salaries or veteran pensions or any other defense spending. So even if your definition is correct, that doesn't mean that the money will be available to pay it.

What does Obama think is going to happen in a few years when the country is so broke we can't - CAN'T UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - pay our bills?

That's gonna happen if we spend like a drunken sailor... this is a dry run for the stuff that's going to happen because of irresponsible spending.

I see your point. Moreover, the Clown has run us into a worse situation by his petulance.

Nevertheless, the technical chance of default is only dependent upon his refusal to pay that interest.

I don’t know where you got the $144B figure, but assuming that is correct, it still is less, I believe, than the monthly income to the federal government via payroll taxes and other fees sent through withholding.

Boehner has been incredibly weak after the kenyan essentially yells fire in a theater. There is nothing wrong with publicly emphasizing the Constitutional powers given to Congress.

I hope we default... then we’d know two things:

1. the republicans have some sack
and
2. 0bama’s getting impeached and, G-d willing, will be thrown in prison

pray for the default
