About 25,000 Washington residents have enrolled in health plans through the state’s online insurance exchange marketplace during its first two weeks.

That figure is nearly triple the 9,500 residents who completed their enrollment during the first week that the exchange, called Washington Healthplanfinder, was open for enrollment.

An additional 37,000 people have completed applications to enroll in coverage but have not yet submitted their first payment, which is not due until December.

The Washington Health Benefit Exchange, which operates Healthplanfinder, released its latest enrollment figures Monday afternoon.

Outlier state with state exchange successfully enrolling applicants.

The "additional 37,000" have not yet paid their first month's premium but would not be expected to do so until December.

Around 13,000 of the 25,000 are new Expanded Medicaid enrollments.

I think the final blow will be when a hacker steals the identities and bank account numbers of all the enrollees. These items are sold by the Russian Mafia in an on-line auction similar to eBay. It’s very organized and very big. Those people will live in lost bank account and identity Hell. But Obamacare will be finished.

No payment...no contract

There must be consideration.

Considering the nature of the rabid statists that infect our governments at all levels, I will not trust any numbers until they are independently verified by an outside, non-liberal entity.

They seek absolute control by any means, so lying is very easy for them.

that’s been my thoughts all along...hacker+bank accounts

or

hacker getting into the electronic medical records of celebs and politicians and publishing them all over the internet would do the trick

I’m almost positive both will happen at some point

Could happen, certainly isn’t impossible, but remember this is a state exchange in a state where IT has a reputation for being reasonably competent.

True, but all kinds of things in the economy are reported prospectively (especially in the housing sector) before money actually changes hands.

I personally expect most of the 37,000 will pay unless O'care totally falls apart before then.

[Around 13,000 of the 25,000 are new Expanded Medicaid enrollments.]

These 13,000 new Medicaid patients will drain more money from the state ObamaCare program than the 12,000 paying exchange clients can possibly offset. Then when you subtract the subsidies the system is deeply in deficit. But then Obama can simply print money to pay the difference and Nancy Pelosi will call it a “stimulus.”

I have been in personal communication with the Corporate Communications Director of the one of insurance companies involved in the exchange and he doesn’t seem to doubt the numbers (last week’s numbers).

Just for a little perspective, the total of 62,000 Washingtonians is a little less the total number who voted for somebody other than BO or Romney in last year’s presidential election.

I agree with what you’re saying. In terms of actual funding mechanics the Medicaid patients aren’t a hit to the state budget for a couple of years or so. Starting then the state has to cover a progressively larger amount of the cost.

There won’t be any celebrities or politicians in Obamacare. Socialist nations have a multitier medical system. Politicians and privileged people are in the upper tier. Obamacare is definitely the bottom rung.

They have agreed to make payment. So, that qualifies as consideration. If/when they do not make the payment, then they are in breach of the contract.

They had best not count their chickens (payments) before they’re hatched (payments are received and clear the bank).

Nonsense. A promise to pay is good consideration for a contract.

Around 13,000 of the 25,000 are new Expanded Medicaid enrollments...a large percentage of those not covered by insurance originally - the rationalization for the need for the government to take over healthcare - were already eligible for Medicaid, and hadn't bothered to sign up - apparently the threat of a tax for not doing so is finally moving some to do what was right long ago.....

Right. But if the Washington numbers are extrapolated to a national level you have a deficit. Medicaid is now a component of ObamaCare for all practical purposes. Medicare has become a funding mechanism for ObamaCare to the tune of $760 billion over 10 years.

So will even the liberals agree now that things are better run at the state level than by the feds?
