Senate leaders reached agreement Wednesday to avert a threatened Treasury default and reopen the government after a partial, 16-day shutdown, according to a Republican senator who also said the House might vote first on the plan to speed its approval.
The New York Stock Exchange soared on the news that the threat of default was easing in, rising nearly 200 points by late morning.
"I understand they've come to an agreement but I'm going to let the leader announce that," Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H........

Wall Street appears to like the news...
House conservatives are speaking to the press now:
Labrador: I’m proud of speaker Boehner, but angry at house republicans who want to kick fight down the road.
Jim Jordan: there’s absolutely “no talk” about replacing John Boehner as speaker.
“Show me a bill number in either chamber. I haven’t found one.”
The announcement is scheduled for noon. You’ll get your number.
Yeah great idea...keep it up with Pickets charge. So the markets sell off and Obama turns off SS checks. And the
public fanned by the media turns on repubs of all stripes with a vengance.....then what’s the plan?
“When we list traitors to campaign promises, this woman is the worst. She seems to have no compass whatsover as to values.”
She joined the “go along to get along” crowd immediately. The good folks of NH need to get a primary candidate ready. Now is not too soon. Just look how long the “evil twins” from Maine have lasted (one is still stinking up the Senate). Every time Collins speaks, I get the distinct impression that she’s just been let out of the rest home for the day.
It ain't over until it's over.
even most on this site believes there is actually a crisis
how can we win if we don't realize the media lies
there is no rissk of default. there is no crisis. just as nothing happened when the stupid govv shut down nothing would happen if the stupid debt ceiling is not raised . how many times will the media be believed? nothing happened after the gov shut down even with the media screaming Armageddon then. and people still believe the media
Yes, the only good part about it all.
The “deal” is they increase the debt and spend your children’s money and grandchildren’s money for “benefits” for voters to vote for them. Generational robbery, practiced by both “parties”.
Obama hopes to create another crisis with immigration to deflect from Obamacare failures. I hope we don’t bite the bait. Focus needs to continue to be the epic failures of Obamacare. He doesn’t have the votes to pass amnesty right now I don’t think. It is just a shell game.
Wall Street loved subprime fraudulent debt, too.
Wall Street is about making money today and don’t think about the future.
Statements by Reid and McConnell expected soon.
(Meanwhile they’;re running tweets from congresscritters.)
Why are so few GOP "leaders" shouting this from the rooftops?
“There is no danger of default. More than enough money comes in to make payments. It a boogey-man issue.”
yes . the media has been lying
but many on this site and Republicans also believe the media and so believe there is a crisis
The USA is a news media dictatorship, .the media are socialist monsters and they rule with an iron fist
