Bobby Jindal Announces Conservative Policy Group 'America Next'
The Weekly Standard ^ | October 17, 2013 | MICHAEL WARREN

Louisana governor Bobby Jindal, the two-term Republican and potential presidential candidate, has announced the formation of a new group called America Next. The organization bills itself as a "conservative policy group" that aims to "focus on winning a war of ideas." Here's an excerpt from a mission statement by Jindal on the new group's website:

...here’s the truth – Conservatives have failed to articulate and sell a national policy agenda to the country, a vision of what conservative policies can accomplish when put into practice.. We’ve detailed the awful things the Obama Administration has done, all the failings of the left, and we’ve pledged to undo as much of that as we can.

That’s good, it needs to be done.

But conservatives must be willing to demonstrate that we have the courage of our convictions by going on offense in the war of ideas. That is where AMERICA NEXT comes in.

Jindal's initial statement doesn't list any specific policy ideas or proposals, though he has made education reform a priority during his governorship. But in places, the America Next mission statements sounds a bit like the first draft of a presidential announcement:

As I recall, Bobby J may be a little suspect. Need some FReeper input here - looks like he may be revving up to run in '16?

Another policy group think tank?

Yeah, like that is going to do anything more than raise some money for the ‘officers’ of that operation.

The problem for the GOP/Republicans is not too few policy groups and think tanks; the problem is a lack of backbone with those already in leadership positions, a lack of clarity of positions (and the lack of backbone to push those positions), a lack of real opposition to the leftist agenda being pushed through the Congress by member of both major parties.

Another policy group? No thanks. Not interested.

We need another thinktank like we need another 4 years of Buttcrack and his yeti wife. Enough. Just link up with the NRA or some conservative org who get results.

Can anyone identify the location of the photo that is used? It looks somewhat like the French Quarter but undoubtedly they wouldn't use that.

I am not a Bobby J fan but he is correct when he says...... “Conservatives have failed to articulate and sell a national policy agenda to the country”

Bobby is a good man but liberal enough to cause pain... like W in a way. Maybe not so much a one world order guy and he has no political dynasty to worry about. Still... he is no Ted Cruz.

Sounds like FL Gov Rick Scott and his Conservatives for Patients Rights....which supposedly opposed ObamaCare....instead lined Scotts pockets for Gov run....and he ended up implementing ObamaCare in Florida

Don’t trust Jindal

Yes, it is a shot taken from Jackson Square. St. Louis Cathedral would be back and to the left of this photo. Chartres St is the street running between the set of buildings.

Wasn’t it Heritage that send the House ‘leadership’ a LIST of duplicate fed. dept/programs during the sequester....And the House quickly/quietly circular filed the report?

I flipped on Jay Leno, and he's mildly ragging on Zero. When his contract is up, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get snapped up by Fox. Jay brought in Arsenio some years ago, when Arsenio needed the work, and now I think Arsenio's been reviving his Fox late night career -- Jay might wind up in the preceding time slot, Arsenio following.

Struck me an an ominous name. Next as in target. My first thought was America as the deer in that Far Side cartoon. "Bummer of a birthmark, Hal."
