I would blame the litigious environment of the country.

BS. Walmart has so many hundreds of billions and so much political influence that they could defend their employees on principle if they wanted to but they don't want to. Their principles lie elsewhere and it has nothing to do with money. The people that own and run Walmart are already richer than Croesus. There are more important things to them than money.

Whatever value Walmart provides -cheapo made in Red China junk sold in cheerless, Stalinesqe warehouses - hardly makes up for the incredible, unrepairable damage they've inflicted on this nation.

Blow your stack all you want. My response was to why they probably have the policy. Why is up to them and how they carry it out is their business. So, the reason is not mine. It is theirs.
