Opinion polls show New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is leading in his race for re-election by a 2-to-1 margin, but his fellow Republicans may not take control of the legislature. And, USA Today reports, the potential 2016 presidential candidate, may not want them to.
Presenting himself as a leader who can work with Democrats in the legislature and as a Republican who can win Blue State voters could give him more political mileage if he runs for president, the newspaper reported Thursday.
Christie is on track to be the first Republican to win more than 50 percent of votes cast in New Jersey since 1985. His popularity may be tied to the fact that he repeatedly stresses the idea of bipartisanship over divisive politics. …
Some have complained that Christie hasn’t done enough campaigning on behalf of his own party candidates. But redistricting in the state favors Democrats, according to Carl Golden, spokesman for former Republican Gov. Thomas Kean. …

Gov. Chris Christie is leading in his race for re-election by a 2-to-1 margin... on track to be the first Republican to win more than 50 percent of votes cast in New Jersey since 1985. His popularity may be tied to the fact that he repeatedly stresses the idea of bipartisanship over divisive politics.He set the election up for a Wednesday (advantage, Pubbies) and endorsed Steve Lonegan -- who then sided with Wrecker Rand Paul, and lost by ten points. But hey, it's a lot better to not win and not be in a position to enact *anything* than to remember that "all politics is local".
Yes, though whether that was deliberate or accidental, I’d tend to side with the latter. My point was that for the long term, he did nothing to improve their fortunes. The Senate numbers declined on his watch (bottoming out at 16 out of 40, the same number it is today). The Assembly was a brief blip, though it jumped from 36 to 50 (out of 80), they were nearly washed out 2 years later (dropping to 42) and 2 years after that, with Kean exiting, were right back to 36 again. Today, we’re at 32, and the number of Republicans has dropped under Fat Boy.
Democrats have maintained their majorities despite incompetent or corrupt leaders and Governors (post-DiFrancesco), and with no help from Christie. A better example where he is concerned (and more chillingly) is William Weld. A closet Democrat agent who was close to the regime (the Clintons), didn’t lift a finger for a Senate candidate (Willard), and largely obliterated the viability of the state GOP to ever win the legislature (or anything else for that matter).
His “endorsement” was precisely that, a big nothing. He didn’t lift a finger for him, and if he had truly cared about getting a Republican into that seat, he’d have gone all out to groom a candidate instead of appointing a flunkie who had no intention of running in the general. As a Governor, you are the “General” of your state party, and you do everything you can to see that your team wins across the board. Christie couldn’t give a damn about that, he is quite comfortable with aiding and keeping the Democrats in the majority (or as President).
He even wasted NJ taxpayer money by scheduling the vote not on the regular statewide election day, all because he didn’t want to have his spotlight hogged, either by Lonegan or by CC’s faux adversary Booker. As with all RINOs doing the dirty work for their Democrat allies, the fix was in. At least Lonegan got to within the margin he did.
We’ll find out shortly if the NJ GOP manages to gain seats in the legislature DESPITE that fat imbecile’s non-help.

The feud was about the fed money for the hurricane, Lonegan said it had been too much, IOW, he shot himself right in the foot twice with the same bullet.
Big deal. Talk is cheap.

As I explained clearly above, Christie’s endorsement was meaningless (meaning clearly it was a complete and absolute joke). He had no intention of helping him or any Republican for that matter to win the seat. He was quite satisfied to see Booker get the Senate seat and stay out of the Governor’s race (I would not be surprised if this deal was cut in private).
Lonegan was Christie’s former Conservative primary opponent for Governor, and believe me, he’s a far better man than that despicable fat slob. RINOs like him inflict far more damage than any Democrat, and we’ve seen his ilk before to know that all too well.
