Thanks to alloysteel for this excellent History reminder lesson:

"After all, Prohibition was the law of the land (under the 18th Amendment), and the politics of its widespread loss of respect for the law resulted in its repeal (21st Amendment).

The 21st Amendment did not totally end Prohibition. The individual states could then vote in local option for either being “wet” or “dry”. But the power was stripped from the Federal government to enforce prohibition anywhere.

How was that for repeal and replace?

I’ve seen some libs comments on other sites and they are claiming that the gov’t shutdown prevented healthcare.gov from fixing the glitches.

We are dealing with very low information people.

That’s right! And most people will never see those videos or news archives even though they are available on the internet.

Sorry, but the effects of this steaming pile that is Ocare is not hideable. Sure, the MSM can hide it from sight but they can't disguise the stink. IMO, the reams of video of Obama lying through his teeth will come back to bite him.

Prohibition was a constitutional amendment... this is just a law that can be unfunded (like the thousands still on the federal books but unenforced or funded anymore), and ignored.

It could mean the end of the irs, except for their usual duties of confiscatory funding of congresscritters pet projects for re-election and the graft that accompanies them.

One aspect of prohibition— speakeasys. A scenario- private pay cash physician treatment which they would try to get around by federal enforcement of the licensure of a physician. But difficult to enforce if involves barter.

The thing that has me shaking my head is Obama's narcissism

He has always felt that he could talk his way out of any situation. That has not changed.

I’m sure that will happen - Cash for medical services. People will find away around the law. There’s probably some way around the tax if you don’t get insurance too. Phony front insurance companies or something.

But it took about 13 years to get rid of prohibition. And look at all the destruction it caused in the meantime.

Obamacare is just a law, not an amendment to the Constitution that had to be repealed with another amendment. Obamacare's destruction should redound to the rat's eternal shame!

upchuck SZ ping!

but have no problem with getting rid of any law or restriction

I wonder how many time the Democrats railed about reversing the Bush tax cuts?
