Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will not be meeting with Pope Francis during his visit to Rome on Wednesday, a diplomatic source told AFP on Sunday.

A statement last week from Netanyahu’s office had said he would be “meeting Pope Francis next Wednesday at the Vatican” and with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for updates on nuclear talks with Iran and negotiations with the Palestinian Authority.

A diplomatic source on Sunday told AFP, however, that no such meeting with Pope Francis will be taking place. The source noted that audiences with the Pope must be arranged sufficiently in advance. …

You would have to ask Bibi. I doubt he wanted the meeting to ask what time Mass is.

And no, I am glad we are not going to fight that war. We have enough ME screwups on our hands, and enough blood, as it is.

The only “ME screwup” “we” (i.e. the politicians that are supposed to represent us in DC) engage in is not actually fighting the war(s) to win and worrying about what the left will say about us.

Seems to be a lot of that ["wait and see] going around with this here new Pope.

I've been waiting in vain for the usual immediate-jumpers-on who always blame everything on "the translation" or on "unreliable" news sources.

This is it for me. Disrespect Bibi and you disrespect me by extension.

And don't believe for one moment that the Israeli government posted the announcement of the meeting before the Pope agreed to see him. Stuff like this doesn't happen in the big leagues.

I posted my suspicions right off the bat about this "social justice" new pope and I've been proven right time after time.

Believe, me, like many others here, this post is written totally in sorrow, not anger.

What does it mean when the Pope ridicules Ideological Christianity but say’s nary a word about Islam?

Give me a break. All religions are ideological as well as all political philosophies. Even the absence of an ideology is an ideology.

I think they should have given the Pope an IQ test prior to election, or maybe that’s why he was elected?

So, either the Source of the story is lying, or somebody at the Vatican hung Israel out to dry because there is no way on this green earth that Israel announced an unarranged meeting with the Pope.

Fill us in on a somewhat detail opinion of the Pope. I agree with everything your thinking, but would like you to elaborate on the Pope.

I think this Pope is as strange as his ascension. Belittling Ideological Christianity was a low IQ move.

My inner imaginative self thinks that this Pope sounds too much like an American Liberal.

I also sense the death of Catholicism.

“JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli Prime Minister will not meet with Pope Francis during a visit to Rome this week, as his office had previously announced.

The Prime Minister’s office issued a statement last week saying that Netanyahu would meet with the pope at the Vatican on Wednesday and during the same trip meet with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Rome to discuss the peace talks with the Palestinians, Iran, Syria, and other issues of mutual concern.

But the Vatican reportedly never was asked to schedule a meeting, and due to complex and conservative Vatican protocol cannot schedule a visit with one week’s notice, which is insulting, Haaretz reported.

On Sunday, the Vatican officially informed the Israeli ambassador to the Vatican, Zion Evrony, that a meeting could not be scheduled this week between Netanyahu and the pope.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met earlier this month with the pope in Rome.

The pope has expressed an interest in visiting Israel”

Not exactly “reject” but hey, on FR anything anti catholic goes.

JTA and Ha’aretz usually lean left, but since Bibi is one of the people here, they have to side against him.

I'm sorry I don't have time for writing a "detailed opinion of the Pope".

Reading threads about the Holy Father on FR will give you a fine variety of pro and con opinions on many details of his time in office. Then you can decide what YOUR opinion is as you will be nicely informed. I posted my opinion above...after months and months of my own reading and discussing "details". My best......

so you want the US to get into another war in the Middle East.

What’s your estimate: How much will a US war with Iran cost, in tax dollars? Where will the money come from - more borrowing from China, or more taxes? How long will it last? How many troops need to be sent?

If you refuse to answer these questions, you’re like a Democrat who wants new social programs but doesn’t know - and doesn’’t care - what they’ll cost.

It is with much sadness that I admit I agree with your take on this pope. Something is just ‘off’ with him, maybe it’s behind the scenes handlers or maybe it’s just him. I hear from more Catholics that they are NOT at enchanted with him and are more disgusted than ever with the church.

Whatever he is doing, and all the supposed miscommunications floating around, the harm is evident and I wonder why THAT doesn’t seem to be addressed. It’s all rather baffling to me.

Whatever man. I really didn’t mean “detail” I meant specific. Because I’m thinking some of “I need to wait and see” might be actually holding back a negative review for fear of ridicule.

As for FR as a news source ? Hmmm, no. FR is great opinion site and great at pointing to news sources.

I was listening to the Catholic radio station in CT yesterday. An unsettling indicator was the enthusiasm of the radio priest for the new Pope Francis, and his implied diminution of Benedict. It sounded as if he knew, or felt that the new Pope was with “his” party.
The radio priest quoted with approval Francis’ comment on the imminent collapse of the Church “like a deck of cards.”
I am tentatively very suspicious of this Pope. I am worried about some of his attitudes, as well as his Argentinian origins and the baggage that this implies.

The article must be read!

The Pope has a calendar and has commitments which are scheduled months to years in advance. Bibi is just like anyone else who must get on that calendar if he wishes to meet with him.

Every single reporter and electronic typesetter with an axe to grind can make anything look bad.

If the pope was an authentic Christian, the leader of Israel would be at the top of his list...

Gen_12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Gen_12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

I'm not a man, I'm a gal.

Since you feel that FR is an opinion source, not a news source, I suggest you type the Pope's name into your Yahoo or Google search engine and find whatever specific details you're looking for.

I charge $250 an hour to do research for people who are disinclined to do their own.

Just found out that the ever faithful pig soros is dumping money into the evangelical churches to get them on board with all things socialist. Why does this not shock me?

That is a very disturbing thing you shared, makes me very queasy. To date, my prayers include some much needed comfort and perhaps a bit of wisdom along the way. I do not understand what this pope says 1/2 the time. I do know that the Lord ultimately is in control, so I wait to see what the deal is with all this. I have no home in the church currently, they make so little sense to me these days. The path they are trying to take us down is so foreign to that which I was taught all my life. Can you tell I’m confused?! lol
