PBS.org ^ | October 28, 2013 | By: Julie Appleby and Anna Gorman Health plans are sending hundreds of thousands of cancellation letters to people who buy their own coverage, frustrating some consumers who want to keep what they have and forcing others to buy more costly policies. The main reason insurers offer is that the policies fall short of what the Affordable Care Act requires starting Jan. 1. The cancellation notices, which began arriving in August, have shocked many consumers in light of President Barack Obama's promise that people could keep their plans if they liked them. Some receiving cancellations say it looks like their costs will go up, despite studies projecting...

As CBS reported again this morning, that’s hardly the case — and the website is hardly the main problem with the program. In fact, the media attention on the website actually masks the biggest problems with ObamaCare, which are skyrocketing premiums and millions of people getting kicked out of the plans they chose:*********************************************CBS Video Report at the website.

Here’s Ed Henry of Fox News picking up right where my last post left off. Everyone remembers Obama endlessly promising in the run-up to O-Care’s passage that you’ll be allowed to keep your plan if you like it. What you may not remember, but which righties like Charles Cooke of NRO are reminding people about on Twitter today, is that The One was unusually unequivocal in making that promise. Go look at the long list of quotes compiled at the end of this recent post at Forbes. Here’s my favorite, from his address to the AMA in June 2009:

“No matter how we reform health care, we will KEEP THIS PROMISE to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to KEEP YOUR DOCTOR. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to KEEP YOUR HEALTH CARE PLAN. Period. NO ONE WILL TAKE IT AWAY. NO MATTER WHAT. My view is that health-care reform should be guided by a simple principle: Fix what’s broken and build on what works.”

It’s just one tweet, but the sheer mendacity requires its own post. With the media finally in “now it can be told” mode since Obamacare passed and President Obama was reelected, pretty much everyone is admitting what all of us knew four years ago— that no, not everyone would be able to keep their plans if they liked their plans. And, yes, the Obama administration knew it just as sure as its critics did. It was a lie and an obvious one, but the administration, much of the media, and Obamacare supporters happily acted as if it were true and...

This isn’t going to end well and when it hits the fan—don’t show any mercy to Democrats, the evil, grasping b******s. They don’t deserve any.

They'll need to be reminded over & over & over that THEY passed this monstrosity without reading it. What will they do about the mess they've created?

I don't believe we've seen the worst of things yet, not by a long shot. After the first of the year it'll be very obvious to millions of people that they've been raked over the coals. Wait till the previously insured get really sick and risk losing their homes & savings etc. to pay medical bills that would have been paid had they not lost insurance.

Actually, millions have already been told they CANNOT keep their policy because it no longer meets the O-care requirements.

I know. But see how sly Jarrett is being? There probably isn't anything in O'Care that explicitly says people have to lose their plans. The problem is that O'Care says existing plans have to conform to O'Care so of course people lose their plans. She's parsing words and getting a pass on it. Total deception from the get go.

That will be the next outrage, when all companies roll out the new healthcare premiums for the new year. If people think they are safe from Obamacare side effects just because they get healthcare from their employer, just wait.

Top Dem admits ObamaCare could have been ‘more precise’ about people losing health plans Published October 29, 2013 FoxNews.com A top Democratic official conceded Tuesday that the health care overhaul should have been “more precise” in acknowledging the possibility that some Americans would lose their current insurance plans — even as the White House defended its past statements on the law. The admission from House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer comes after a 2010 document emerged that predicted millions might be dropped by their providers. The document helped explain why thousands are already getting cancellation notices and being guided toward new...

At Current Pace, Admin’s Estimate of 7 Mil. Enrollees in ObamaCare Would Take Until 5209

The President has made many faulty promises over the last few years. Often times, they were proved to be outright lies, such as, “If you like your healthcare, you can keep it under my plan.” Well, Mr. Obama has done it again. Concerning his signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act, President Obama projected that, by March 1, 2014, about 7,000,000 people would enroll through healthcare.gov.

To reach the Administration’s low-end estimate of seven million enrollees by March, 39,000 people have to join ObamaCare per day. The number that actually enrolled? Six.

That’s right, a mere six (6) people were newly enrolled via the healthcare.gov website the first day of its launched. Put another way, .0015% of 39,000 joined the first day that the new healthcare.gov website launched.

At that pace, to reach President Obama’s marker of 7,000,000, it would take 1,166,667 days for that to happen, or 3,196 and one-third years. If you can’t do the math quickly in your head, we’d be in the year 5209 by that time.

But hey, with the security problems, information problems, and pricing problems that the website is also having, I’m sure the Administration will figure everything out nice and quick.

Get over it,” Cohen said, according to National Journal. “Barack Obama is president, and the Affordable Care Act is the law.”

>> “Of course nothing in O’Care is “forcing” people out of their health plans.” <<

100% wrong!

Obamacare coverage requirements will farce EVERY existing plan to be discontinued due to non-compliance. Thus Obamacare will literally force every American that has coverage to lose it.

No issue to me, I don’t do “Doctors.”

Right. I understand what you're saying. I also understand the doublespeak of Jarret and the non-affordable care act. They're too slick to come right out and force people out of their plans outright. So they go through the back door, so to speak, and have the insurance companies cancel the policies. The outcome is the same.

So far, more Americans have lost their health care plans thanks to Obamacare than the population of 24 states.

According to FOX News more than 4.2 million Americans have now seen their health insurance policies canceled due to the new regulations.

That’s more people than the population of 24 states.

Some numbers have come been released over the number of people who have signed up for ObamaCare through the federal website and it isn’t pretty. It appears that less than 50,000 people have signed up, which is only ten percent of what big government liberals wanted and need. If millions of young people don’t sign up for health insurance they don’t need, then the entire ponzi scheme falls apart. However, the Obama administration’s tenuous relationship with the truth continues as the 50,000 number cited isn’t actually correct. It appears that the government is counting every person who had an insurance...

The Obamacare Exchange Scorecard: Around 100,000 Enrollees And Five Million Cancellations

In the market for individually-purchased health insurance, more than 4.8 million Americans have received notices that their preexisting plans are soon to be illegal, and will be cancelled. Many more cancellation notices are imminent. But yesterday, the Wall Street Journal obtained information regarding the number of people who have signed up for new private health coverage under Obamacare: “40,000 to 50,000” for the federal exchange, and 49,000 for 12 of the 14 state-based exchanges. One official told Amy Goldstein and Sarah Kliff of the Washington Post that “the official figure will include people who have paid for a plan and...

CBS and the Wall Street Journal report that roughly 50,000 have signed up using the federal exchange which covers enrollment in 36 states. That’s in addition to the 49,100 which Reuters reports have signed up in 12 states with their own individual exchange websites. The official numbers for the federal site will be released sometime this week by the Department of Health and Human Services. If the new estimates are accurate, the numbers reported by CBS, the WSJ and Reuters demonstrate that the administration is far behind expected enrollment numbers.

Though the number is estimated to eventually hit as high as 10 to 15 million, right now the number of insurance policies canceled due to ObamaCare is 5 million. Wednesday, the Obama administration claimed that 106,185 Americans enrolled in ObamaCare. Except, according to the White House, those are not actual enrollments. Some have not paid for but have only only “selected a marketplace plan.” Orwellian nonsense aside, that is still somewhere around a 50-to-1 ratio of cancellations to enrollees. The question now is, will that gap ever close? Because if it doesn’t, at the end of the year, when those...
