I guess it’s just a case of ‘WWBS’ (Walking While Being Southern). Just a bunch of hicks, ya’ know. We even have airports ‘n’ stuff. And they FLY! Believe it or not! In fact.....our planes are complete with outhouses attached! With a carved out moon on the door!

Cessna 172 from the Windsor ON Flying Club. 0300 and fog. No comms with ATC or tower, presumably - otherwise crash rescue would have/ should have been notified. Pretty odd, given the limited information, so far.

Relax. I’m from West Virginia

When I land in charleston, I’m just glad the plane doesn’t fall off the runway and down the mountain

don’t they have cameras and radar tapes from all these international airports, can’t they pin down the time with those?

I was an air traffic controller for 20 years. There may be cameras, because it seems like there are cameras everywhere, but are somewhat limited. I worked with radar too, and unless they have made some advances in technology, I never knew of any radar that recorded anything. When I was at Tempelhof, in Berlin, (1982) there was a VCR camera pointed at a scope, to recored when the Russians were violating their airspace. Air to ground radio is recorded, but not radar.

I believe Nashville is a major cargo hub for Federal Express. Or is it DHL? Or UPS?

Anyway, a lot of auto parts move through Nashville on their way to Japanese and Korean automobile transplant factories in the area.

These sometimes includes a few passengers as well.

My first airplane was a 172. It is a fine starter plane.
I upgraded to Beach Bonanzas, based in Memphis.
The crashed plane could have had a catastrophic power failure, resulting in no lights, and no radio, or the pilot could have been unconscious, maybe from CO or other natural causes.
At that time of morning, the controllers are not scanning the field, so this accident can be quite understandable.

Unless they crash near a desert island in the pacific. It’s good if you always carry a volleyball too.

Having over ten years experience as an airborne traffic reporter, I’ve had my fair share of near misses. I was involved in helicopter-airplane collision which I was fortunate enough to walk out of the hospital and was able to attend the funeral for the airplane pilot. We all used gallows humor to get by and return to the air. No one is laughing at the deceased.

It's Obozo's fault.

It appears that the pilot was told via a text message his insurance was canceled because of Obamacare and shortly thereafter lost control of the aircraft.
