"Serious" TED CRUZ rocks the TONIGHT SHOW with "Bad Jay" LENO
[PHOTOS, analysis and FReeper "after party"]

From PAULA BOLYARD's wonderful article on pjmedia.com:
Compare and Contrast: Leno Interviewing Obama and Cruz
Does Jay have a double standard?

On Friday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz made his first appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Leno, allegedly in his last season as host of the Tonight Show, has not been known as a particularly partisan entertainer,
so it was surprising to see him go "Candy Crowley" on Ted Cruz...

-- snip --

...Some on Twitter compared Leno to a prosecuting attorney as he interrupted Cruz and accused him
of everything from shutting down the government to wanting violent psychopaths to have guns.

Cruz, for his part, used the appearance to his advantage, clearly understanding both the venue and the audience.
Although Cruz is certainly more than capable of holding his own in a debate with Leno,
he chose mostly to keep his powder dry, defying the media-generated image of him as a hostile aggressor.
He was relaxed and laid back, despite the tough questioning.
It seemed to go over well with the audience, which erupted into cheers after several of Cruz’s points...
THIS THREAD will help to review, analyze and document that historic event. :)
Please feel free to add YOUR positive comments and suggestions.
And who knows, the folks at TEAM CRUZ might actually READ what you post here. ;)

Jay Leno is a very nice guy and no raging liberal.

He is funnier in person. very cool guy.

Don’t read too much in to his interaction with Cruz.

From my place in the studio audience, it **did** seem that Jay and Ted got along quite well OFF CAMERA.
They even got in a fun interchange about Senator Cruz' filibuster,
when Jay flubbed his lines while taping "local promos" AFTER the main show was over.
JAY: "We're going to be here all night..."
TED: "I have some experience with that!"
But ON CAMERA, Jay Leno was "all business" -- interrupting Senator Cruz, pummeling him with leftis talking points, etc.

Senator Cruz is always “cool” and in charge. Why ..??

When he was at Princeton and Harvard, he was a DEBATE CHAMPION.

I watched him take Diane Feinstein apart re her “gun bill”, and all the while his facial expression and tone of voice never changed. It was stunning! I couldn’t figure out how he did that, until I read about his debate experience in college. He just kept asking her the same question over and over, until she got so flustered and upset that she finally gave him the answer. Any person who can make my congress person squirm .. is okay in my book.

I was a part of my grammar school and high school debate teams, and the first thing they teach you is don’t change your facial expression, remain calm, don’t raise your voice, and never let them see you sweat.

This is only part of the reason the dems hate him .. the second reason is Senator Cruz was WAS THE LEAD ATTORNEY IN THE BUSH V. GORE LAWSUIT. It was because of Ted’s knowledge of the Constitution and his skill as a litigator that helped George Bush win in 2000.

It’s no wonder the left hates him.

Teds got the right stuff. The problem is not the left, its the RINO-ROVE factor that will now try to destroy Cruz.

From www.businessinsider.com:
Here Is Ted Cruz Reading 'Green Eggs And Ham' On The Senate Floor
Brett LoGiurato Sep. 24, 2013, 8:43 PM
During his marathon speech on the Senate floor Tuesday in opposition to funding the Affordable Care Act
in the continuing resolution, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) took a break ... to read bedtime stories to his two young girls.

He said that his two daughters were watching C-SPAN2 at home — he told them to turn on the station at 8 p.m.
Cruz read his daughters verses from the Bible.
And then he moved on to the Dr. Seuss classic, "Green Eggs and Ham."

-- snip --

Below is video of Cruz's dramatic rendition on the Senate floor.
He concluded by telling his daughters, "Daddy's going to be home soon, to read to you in person."

Ted Cruz Reads Green Eggs And Ham. Ted Cruz Filibuster <-- link to cute YouTube video
And, yes, "Green Eggs and Ham" will now forever be in the Senate record.

WOW! The vast majority of loud applause was for Sen. Cruz. Jay got some small applause on a couple of points, but you could tell how weak it was and probably just his fans.

The fact that when Jay introduced his guest and Cruz came out, the applause was deafening. It gave me hope that the Hollywood types are starting to grow up and see the Fedgov writing on the wall.

I've always said that when the Fedgov over-reaches and significantly curtails our liberties, then even the LIV's, college indoctrinated, and apolitical types will rise up.

Great interview, although Jay opened with some gotcha questions, Sen. Cruz explained in language that even the LIV's could understand. From the sound of his applause about government being the problem, I would guess there were some standing ovations.

ObamaDemocratCare has over-reached and if not repealed or die of its own weight, it will eventually be so watered down that it will be one of those laws on the books that will just be ignored as new free-market solutions becomes more viable. Think cross interstate competition and tort reform.

Mark my words. We don't live in Britain or Canada or any other social medicine country. Americans have a natural tendency to draw a line. Think Carter years. The stupid website issue was just the beginning. Now that millions are losing their insurance, the revolution is growing, providing the GOPe doesn't blow it.

ObamaDemocratCare passed in the middle of the night on Christmas eve is killing your health insurance and jobs! Not ONE single Republican voted for it! NOT ONE! Hate Republicans or support them, but they knew this 2300 page monstrosity would devastate YOUR health care and countless jobs/hours/and personal costs. Employers and health Insurance companies have NO choice but to downsize. They either do that or fire even more and go out of business.

Just Google Obamacare and read the countless cases of people being cancelled by their insurance companies because of all the obscene regulations Obamacare puts on them. Other than the largest health insures will be out of business. Try to work with your State or Fedgov exchanges when their are less choices. Good luck.

Last thought, I read every day where Doctors are retiring because the don't want the government between them and you. That has happen Britain and Canada. Need an MRI for a shoulder injury and live in Canada...get in line for months down the road. Plus, my ex-wife Medical Assistant is being offered many opportunities. She knows what's coming if ObamaDemocratCare come to realization.

With a few exceptions, the studio audience for the "Tonight Show" is virtually all VISITORS -- from out of state, and from outside of Los Angeles...
...so there generally aren't very many "Hollywood types" there...
...but there **were** a lot of NORMAL AMERICANS there (in addition to the FReepers) who supported Senator Cruz.

Senator Cruz' statement to Jay about "Obamacare being a big job-killer" certainly generated a lot of applause.

Here is ANOTHER great series of POWERFUL statements from Senator Cruz (also from The Lonely Conservative):
Jay: And of course, huge debt, but, I mean, I see something, when I started this job,
the Forbes 400 was millionaires, I think 360 millionaires, 40 billionaires.

Now it’s all billionaires.

Cruz: Yep, yep.

Jay: So somebody’s getting rich.

Cruz: And the rich do great with big government.

Jay: They always do great.

Cruz: Big business does great with big government.

The people who get hammered are the small businesses...

It would have come across better, though, if Jay had not been "stepping on his delivery" -- with so many interruptions.

On the other hand, Cruz handled it well, and a pillow fight wouldn’t have given Cruz a chance to show his quality.

Cruz had the chance to stand up for 1000 babies murdered every stinking day in this country and he turned tail and ran away. He was asked twice about social issues and retreated from the abortion question like a coward. Don’t think all the women in this country didn’t see that full blown retreat.

If he can’t figure out how to articulate the fact that abortion kills 1000 babies every day in America, then he doesn’t have the bare basic skills to be President.

And he likes to talk so....he should attack this head on instead of waiting for it to chop off his head in the elections.

I can’t think of any comedian who’s taken more shots at Obama than Leno, so I’m surprised he was so aggressive with Cruz.

Here it is-Jay’s self-espoused politics.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/08/06/jay-lenos-candid-remarks-about-his-personal-political-views/

Fiscal Conservative, Social Liberal. Like a lot of RINOs we know. Seems consistent with what one of his producers indicated at the Ann Coulter after-party.

I’m as pro life as you can get but I don’t think Mr.Cruz should make the same mistake some others have made, namely a male speaking aggressively about abortion unless their backs are against the wall. It isn’t right but in the current climate I think it is better for the churches and pro life women to take on the topic head on. He will have enough battles.

He has no choice. He will be attacked on his “Anti Choice War on Women” .....he needs to be able to articulate and defend successfully the unborn baby’s life. Something that is common sense and simple. If he can’t even do that, he has no business being a Conservative Politician.

I mean,....war on women....the answer is ISLAM. BOOM
No organization does more to destroy torture women than islum. period.

Abortion.....are women who are pregnant carrying a human or not....well if they die, does the insurance have to pay for both or just one.?

on and on, it is easy to fight this fight. ....and it can generate money from women and men who have stayed together and brought children into the world.

The dems can talk about abortion all day long and the repubs can only emit three words...I’M PROCHOICE. Well what message does that send the youth, the women? That when it comes to the most important value of all, Life, we are afraid to fight for it.

It that is the case we deserve to lose...worse than the Broncos.

I know where you stand and appreciate your post to me.
