And yet the spinmeisters in my local newspaper websites keep insisting, “This was a Republican idea.” That is why I left the Democratic Party years ago - I cannot lie as a way of life.

There are a lot of sick, Kool-Aid poisoned zombies out there. Some of them even work in the news media.

"...is the President TELLING insurers to disobey the law?

Seems consistent with his Navigator's telling the public not to report their unreported income to the IRS. (see Veritas.com reports)

Democrats don’t give a hoot about the ‘letter of the law’ - they hardly care about the law... Why should conservaties be held to some impossibly high standard while dems wallow in one filthy lie after another?

The President can refuse to enforce the law IF THE LAW IS UNENFORCEABLE. Not if the law doesn’t meet his personal wishes.

It has to do with the technical ability to enforce - not the desire.

the pain traverses all political boundaries and social strata

In one sense of course this is true. But I work with a flaming liberal, and he has a genuinely hard time hearing the truth, even when confronted with it in person. He very nearly called me a liar for saying my policy was cancelled. He tried convincing me how great it was that somebody finally stood up to the evil insurance companies and was giving us this gift of healthcare coverage. He was just thrilled at how cheap the plans all were, even the Platinum.

So naturally I tried to talk to him about it. But to no avail. He literally wouldn't listen to me. I did manage to get through the point that the quotes he was getting without making it all the way into the process were lowball quotes, per info I picked up here on FR. That was about a week ago. Then yesterday I overheard him telling somebody else about the quotes being misleading. But if he talks to me about anything Obamacare, its more hyperventilating. I guess I can take some comfort the truth is getting through, but the level of preprogrammed magical thinking is astonishing. It's a lot to overcome.

In order to individual policies on the CA exchange the insurance companies agreed to cancel all policies as of 12/31/2013. Now the Insurance commissioner wants that agreement invalidated.

They are so screwed.

Somebody explain to me why I’m supposed to “hate” the insurance industry. I don’t get it. If you hate them, don’t buy their product and move on. If you think you’ll be better off financially by buying their product, why in the world would you bite the hand that feeds you?

You’re only supposed to hate the devil.

Groups and people which embrace the devil can be “hated” in a relative sense. But at least individuals can be loved contrary to this, in an effort to win them away from the devil. That is how any human effort, not itself inherently sinful but which can be put to good or bad use, will be redeemed.

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale
A tale of a fatally-flawed law
That started without ‘Pub support
To pass when no one saw.

Implementation started getting rough
The policies were lost
Despite the courage of Teddy Cruz
The debacle was not tossed.

The heat came down on the shoulders of
Politicians who had lied
Like Harry Reid
Pelosi too
A bunch of millionaires
And Barack
The movie stars
Lib professors and MSM
In Obamacare denial.

May very well be the latest phase of the strategy to create a chaotic crisis and implement another EO for single-payer. They will use every illegal/immoral tactic at their disposal to get their way and will willingly crush opposition by expending some of those billions of rounds of ammo when they deem the time is ripe.
