"A globalizing conformity of all nations is not beautiful, rather, each with own customs but united, but it is the hegemonic uniformity of globalization, the single line of thought. And this single line of thought is the result of worldliness."
Can I have an Amen?
Amen Pope Francis
Either this Pope has bi-polar disorder, or the media are severely fudging the translations of his sentiments.
>> Can I have an Amen?
Amen.
And a breath of fresh air from a Pope who seemed to be embracing some trendy values for a while there.
It’s about time. Someone needs to clearly point out good and evil. Pogressiveness is the worldliness that the writers of the bible warn us about. Like good intentions, evil does not appear that way on the surface. It’s an ideology that if followed far enough will lead staight to Hell.
The media is against him and the message of Christ.
Yes. It’s one or the other
What are the chances David Gregory or Martha radix or the Muslim rag of (NYT) are honest about what it is the Pontiff is trying to communicate to catholics?
Sigh

I was thinking along those lines too. He was sounding like a liberal a few weeks ago, or at least that’s what I thought he said.
Actually, he was a stalwart opponent of “liberation theology” when he was in South America. That was a pretty clear sign that he was not progressive if it involved distorting the teachings of the Church.
Because liberation theology was a pretty big thing in Latin America, and it took a lot of guts to oppose it.
We may have to be content with just never knowing exactly what he is all about, at least until I become more acquainted with the language.
link?
Amen.
Amen.

Ditto. There aren't very many conservative Jesuits in my experience. Pope Francis certainly didn't strike me as one.
My advice - always go to National Catholic Register (and definitely not NC Reporter) for direct Quotes in context.
The news media is even LESS trustworthy, when it comes to Pontifical matters than conservative ones.
and The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a source he does not stray from in his statements.
So, actually, one can always know.
WE assume that there can be an imposter in there, as has been in the distant past, and as there is here.
But No that is highly unlikely, to say the least.
The Jesuits as founded were adherent to the Magisterium, the Bible, and tradition. There were contemporary Jesuits who rejected some of this, notably, Humanae Vitae, which pointed to the dangers of Birth control.
Most Catholics adhere to the rejection of this document, claiming they can be Catholic and also support/practice birth control, which, according to the document, from 1968, and believed by the Church, certainly by Pope John Paul II, and the current Pope, is the precursor/the parent of abortion, not the other way around.
Yet those who would put him and the Jesuits down, see nothing wrong with promoting or having a favorable opinion toward birth control.
But The Jesuits go back centuries, and are certainly not, by foundation, contrary to the Church.
That is where this Pope is from. He would not have been elected had he been contrary to the Church.
The media reports on him like Candy Crowley supports conservatives. No truth.
Of course.
This is the standard modernist tactic.
Feed the conservative pigeons every now and then with some red meat to get them to ignore how he undermines his own faith in other ways.
Stupid conservatives fall for this tactic all the time.
