NEWLY-ELECTED SOCIALIST HAS SOME RADICAL IDEAS FOR SEATTLE
The Blaze ^ | 21 Nov 2013 | Becket Adams

Seattle’s newly elected Socialist councilwoman accused aerospace and defense giant Boeing on Monday of “economic terrorism” and told Boeing machinists they should consider taking “over the factories.” “The workers should take over the factories, and shut down Boeing’s profit-making machine,” Kshama Sawant told a group of activists in the city’s Westlake Park.

Sawant’s comments were made at a rally organized by machinists after they rejected a deal that would reduce pensions for union members in return for guaranteed jobs in Everett, Wash., building 777X Boeing airliners for eight years.

Now Boeing is considering taking those jobs elsewhere.

“That will be nothing short of economic terrorism because it’s going to devastate the state’s economy,” Sawant told the crowd.

If Boeing tries to move out, Sawant said, union workers should simply take over the Everett airplane-building factory.

She referred to this as “democratic ownership.” “The only response we can have if Boeing executives do not agree to keep the plant here is for the machinists to say the machines are here, the workers are here, we will do the job, we don’t need the executives. The executives don’t do the work, the machinists do,” she said.

She said that once workers take over the plant, they should start building things everyone can use.

“We can re-tool the machines to produce mass transit like buses, instead of destructive, you know, war machines,” she told KIRO-TV. By “war machines,” she apparently meant drones, KIRO reported.

“Workers have to realize, they have more power than they think,” Sawant said.

Sawant, who defeated a four-term Democratic incumbent last week, ran a campaign that took aim at capitalism and advocated for a $15 per hour minimum wage.

Professional “educator”. No surprise.

Seattle is one of America’s festering political sores.

It is numbing sometimes how completely stupid these people are.

Its because they don’t peak from a position of experience or wisdom. They’re just parroting from the same Alinsky phrasebook as usual.

How are we supposed to rise up and seize the means of production if 0bama takes our guns away?

Have any liberals ever actually read Das Kapital?

There are very capable machinery moving companies—all over the country. Boeing might already have them on stand-by.

I remember when a well established compnay in the San Fernando Vally in Los Angeles moved everything to a new place in Las Vegas. They started unbolting machines at 4 PM Friday afternoon, and were up and running the following Monday in Las Vegas. They had a caravan of trucks going east out of California, and has all the places for the new machines ready for installation when they worked thru the weekend, relocating everything.

The company offered all of it’s employees jobs in Las Vegas, and only about 30 said no. Over 200 people moved with the company. No income taxes & the company helped them with the actual move & finding new houses.

In the first year alone, the company saved over $100,000 just on the cost of Power, since rates are better closer to Hoover Dam.

Most accountants said it would take about 3 years to recover the costs of the move, new building, etc, but it took less than 12 months for all those costs to be recovered.

Wonder how long she’ll be in there before recall.

the Washington State Supreme Court has twisted the election recall statutes so badly, it is virtually impossible to even get to the petition stage.

Yep, but now look at all the comedy she’ll provide. How long is the term? Two or four years?

Probably all married to government employees.

What does this bimbo think MOVE OUT means?

There will no machinery—no materials—no desks—no telephones—no toilet paper-—no............

There will only be a shell of a very OLD building.

Companies won’t take extortion very long. Not even in Seattle.

Democracy - “Democratic” in its original meaning [refers to] unlimited majority rule . . . a social system in which one’s work, one’s property, one’s mind, and one’s life are at the mercy of any gang that may muster the vote of a majority at any moment for any purpose.

The American system is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic. A democracy, if you attach meaning to terms, is a system of unlimited majority rule; the classic example is ancient Athens. And the symbol of it is the fate of Socrates, who was put to death legally, because the majority didn’t like what he was saying, although he had initiated no force and had violated no one’s rights.

Democracy, in short, is a form of collectivism, which denies individual rights: the majority can do whatever it wants with no restrictions. In principle, the democratic government is all-powerful. Democracy is a totalitarian manifestation; it is not a form of freedom . . . .

The American system is a constitutionally limited republic, restricted to the protection of individual rights. In such a system, majority rule is applicable only to lesser details, such as the selection of certain personnel. But the majority has no say over the basic principles governing the government. It has no power to ask for or gain the infringement of individual rights.

Every democrat, socialist (national or international), Maoist, Stalinist, Trotskyite, Leninist, Marxist, unionist et al are all collectivists.

Although this will probably sound strange to many people, Kshama Sawant's radical socialist ideas are an example of the 10th Amendment-protected state sovereignty at work imo.

More specifically, other states will keep an eye on Ms Sawant's economic experiment to see if it works or not. And if it works then Ms Sawant will be a hero, other states justifiably considering implementing Ms Sawant's economic theories in their states.

But if it doesn't work, then the economic damage caused Ms Sawant's misguided vision will hopefully be contained mostly in Washington State, not messing things up significantly for the other states.

In fact, when Obama was an Illinois state senator, he had the 10th Amendment power to experiment with Obamacare within that state's borders. And if Illinois-run Obamacare had really turned out well for that state, then Obama would have had the bragging rights to argue for the states to ratify an amendment to the Constitution which would have granted Congress the specific power that it needed to establish federal Obamacare.

But if Illinois Obamacare had been a flop, then the states probably wouldn't have granted Congress the necessary power, via the Constitution, to implement federal Obamacare for the nation.

Otherwise, bearing in mind that the states want their economic experiments to succeed, socialist Justice Louis D. Brandeis had noted that the states were "Laboratories for Democracy."

The problem with Ms. Sawant's experiment, as freeper fhayek had pointed out, is that misguided socialists are infamous for repeatedly attempting the same failed economics experiments, expecting different results every time.

The tenth amendment does not give the states the power to violate the other parts of the Bill of Rights. Some things are not governments business at any level.

People should be prepared to revolt if they start stealing private property like this.

That is the second amendment

Hey, I wanted to thank Seattle for electing a genuwine Commie! Quite refreshing actually to see a honest-to-god Commie who isn’t afraid to say what they really mean. None of this “progressivism” this and “redistribution” that, but just good ol’ fashioned “kill the evil capitalists and take their stuff”.

Yep, let’s just steal that factory and “convert” it into making VCRs and lectric buses and rainbow generators and Unicorn horseshoes and other useful stuff not used for war, you know, like all factories are completely interchangeable.

Good lord. What a fool and a moron. Still, she’s gonna be providing us with a LOT of entertainment for the next four years!

So thanks again Seattle for lightening things up a bit in the political world! (Oh. Word of advice. Don’t elect a MAJORITY of those like her to city council or you’re gonna be REALLY sorry!)
