US flag is being flown at half staff at the White House (vanity)

I just saw a video shot of the White House and the flag is being flown at half staff. I can only assume this is due to Mandela's death. I am curious if it customary to fly the flag at half staff for death of foreign leaders.

What would one expect from a president, representing the American People, bowing in supplication to Saudi Royalty, Chinese Communist leaders, etc. etc.
Mandela was only admired because his enemy was evil.
NO-ONE in public life will remark about the ANC invention of the “Mandela Necklace” used to kill not only white farmers, but to kill FAR more South African blacks competitors for power — or his book, “How to be a good Communist”.
Another reason The Bummer is an embarrassment to all that care about the USA.

I agree with you but we all know the dictator in charge of the US breaks any rules he wants to, or amends them to suit himself.

Those that care about the U.S.A. are now in the minority. If they were in the majority, the bastard that currently occupies the White House would not be there now.

She is in high school, cyber school actually, and I wonder if the topic of Mandela comes up tomorrow if she will mention necklacing. She asked me how I knew that because she had preciously learned about Mandela in school. I told her that one remembers things when they pay attention to current events before history is written.

Hopefully it is in honor of Paul Walker who deserves it WAY more than Mandela.

I hate that picture of Gaddafi being brutalized. I know how evil the man was but that video is burned into my mind and it turns my stomach bad. I detest Gaddafi the murderer but I still wonder how Hillary could laugh about it. No humanity anywhere in that mess. None.

So we have Pope John Paul and maybe Churchill. I thought about Churchill as being an exception if I were deciding, but decided against that even though I have a tremendous respect for Churchill. Popes also came to mind, but then there is the religious angle and the 1a bashing that would probably occur.
