JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A time to mend the divide; a sentiment that was met with a standing ovation.

The Duval County School Board voted unanimously to remove the name of a Confederate general from a Westside high school. School leaders called it a move for progress.

Yes, West Virginians love them some Robert Byrd. Even the blacks. He certainly did his share of bring home the bacon, so to speak.

The Robert C. Byrd list was three times as long

If Byrd had lived long enough, he would have paved over the entire state using porkbarrel funds.

I just wonder what all the colorblind whites will do when they come after Washington, Henry and all the other founders?

Rename it “Nathan Bedford Forrest III High School”. He was a hero who died in World War 2. Who could object to naming after someone like that?

Well, you’re wrong about my seeing what I want to see. I was looking for an answer. Anyway, I’ll assume you are right about Forrest.

The list of places and things that will be named for the wun will either be absurdly long and dwarfing sheets Byrd or just a few obscure points of no interest depending on how civilization fares.

What and skip our own great martin Luther king or Cesar Chavez? And dammit, where are there advocates for naming schools after native Americans. Hell they were here first, right?

When you enter WV from PA on US-22 they have a sign which tells you

Robert C. Byrd Memorial Expressway

US Federal Funds Used to Construct This Road: $x,xxx,xxx.....

West Virginia Funds Used to Construct This Road: $0

Don’t know if they do that just to outrage PA and OH residents.

No, this is the land of Corrine Brown who....”Delivers!”, a dem rep of inconceivable stupidity and dogged political machine grafter and grifter. They have yet to change the name of Jacksonville (from General Jackson as namesake)— and Lord knows what that would be.

So what will they call this as they re-write history and their own politicians rip them off— keep voting obamaumao— he’s “black” don’t you know. The liberation theology they are being sold is liberating only to the scum politicians and users.

Well, you’re wrong about my seeing what I want to see. I was looking for an answer.

But the answer is there unless you choose not to see it. The man said he would defend the lives of blacks with his own. If that is not contrition for his past, I don't know what is.

Interestingly, I believe, I grew up on the west side of Jacksonville, FL. But I attended Robert E. Lee High School, a rival of Forrest. Lee High was where Leonard Skinner was a gym coach. The boys from Lynyrd Skynyrd named their band after him. Most everyone knew of Forrest's past, but that mattered not as he was accepted for his war efforts by both black and whites that I knew. That was during the 60s. This latest batch of politically correct dumbasses just doesn't get it. And that is how we got to where we are now.

But let’s be honest about Byrd. He stopped being a KKK member over 60 years ago and apologized for it many times over the years.

All that tells me about Byrd is that he might have gone back to the Klan if it meant reelection.
