Army to cut up to 4,000 captains and majors
Washington Times ^ | 12/17/13 | Douglas Ernst

The U.S. Army is sending roughly 19,000 active-duty captains and majors to a screening board for early separation this spring, the Army Times reported. Up to 20 percent of those screened — approximately 3,800 officers — could be scheduled to leave the service by the Officer Separation Board and Enhanced Selective Early Retirement Board. Officers with fewer than 18 years of federal active service will have their screening process done by OSB, and those with more than 18 years of service will see the E-SERB, according to the Army Times. “The Army’s drawdown plan is a balanced approach while maintaining

Yep. My first thought at seeing the headline was : “They will RIF any that believe in the Constitution, who will keep their Oath, understand Posse Comitatus means and would refuse to fire upon American Citizens.”

They have gotten rid of many of the Generals and Admirals, a bunch of Colonels, that aren’t leftist lapdogs; are working on getting rid of the old types of Sergeant’s Major and First Sergeants, replacing them with militant lesbians in some cases... etc.

They will have to get rid of good Company Commanders too before they can put us under martial law.

In 1940, the Army had 269,023 (including Air Corps) Navy was at just under 170,000, and there were 28,345 Marines for a total of under 500,000. Today, the army alone (without the Air Corps) is larger than that, and the total is more than 3 times higher.

Perhaps with a smaller military, we wouldn’t feel that we should be the world’s policeman, and we could avoid some of our foreign entanglements.

Oh, Good, get rid of mega amounts of the military which Hussein hates, and use that saved money to extend unemployment benefits and add more people to it since jobs are disappearing, until 2050.

Yeah, no doubt about that. So lets put the 2nd Lieutentants in charge. What could go wrong? [/s]

Seriously, though, its pretty cold blooded to imply that someone should be kicked out as a Major, after paying their dues as a Captain—doing the jobs that supposedly need doing.

I know a number of officers leaving ASAP anyway. Actually, I know a number of service members leaving, officers and otherwise. I was stunned that a prior infantry Marine that had attended the Army Ranger school and Marine Scout/Sniper school then went on to become an Army Warrant Officer 4 Apache pilot that then became a Personnel Recovery officer, and has only 21 years in, decided to retire this month. He has an outstanding and remarkable career with multiple combat tours and he finds it is time to leave. No real reason, just the Army has become unpalatable anymore. Sad, just sad.

approximately 3,800 officers — could be scheduled to leave the service by the Officer Separation Board and Enhanced Selective Early Retirement Board.

They keyword here is 'could'. I remember a few years back in the Navy (where I serve) there was a big whip-de-doo about 'thousands of Chiefs" facing retention boards. In the end, I think about 18 of them were canned.

I'll reserve my outrage until I see what happens.

And if anyone thinks this is part of Obama's mythological "military purge" please save it... It's not.

“The military is being dismantled block by block at an accelerating pace.”

Yep. Those Captains and Majors are “old skool”. Obama wants those O1 and O2 “new skool” types to be promoted ASAP.

I’m not necessarily against a smaller military. I’d like to see them cut bureaucrats, too. The Department of Ed, root and branch, to start with.

But I really HATE to see this happen while Obama is in charge. He is busy wrecking the military already, and you can bet that he and his communist stooges will make sure that only the best officers go, while the time-servers and bootlickers stay.

Or, of course, those willing to turn their troops against the American people.

This is nothing new. It happened after World War I, after World War II, after Korea, after Vietnam, after the First Gulf War. The politicians decide that they don’t need an Army and the cuts begin. In every single case, every single case, the threats to this country raise their ugly heads and the Army is called upon once again to do their duty. The price of buying votes for the politicians is the lives of the young men and women that are sacrificed as the Army gets back to level needed to do its job.

Soldiers, not politicians pay the price.

The need to get rid of 90% of the Generals. Almost all of them are political suck-ups who went along with the “buggerization” of the armed forces.

I look forward to the headline : U.S. Military to disband the JAG Corps . That would be a HUGE savings and an immense benefit to our troops .

You have no idea what you are talking about.
