Should give REI a run for it’s money (at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville, just up the road).

Gas is cheaper in SC too.

Cabela’s came to southern Maine acouple years ago.

It’s amazing the amount of tax money that store generates for the town and state.

People from about 5 states shop there. Buses fill with holiday shoppers make a stop there.

Contribute to a lot of local good works projects including a stop for the ‘Wreaths across America’ heading to DC.

Just went to the one in Hamburg, PA, the other day. It’s a must see if you’re heading E/W on 78 or N/S on 81 in PA.

Good news! Fort Mill was looking a little shabby the last time I was through town.

Been visiting daughter and her great family about 35 miles into Maine for 20 years now. The trip to Cabella’s has become one of the “Must DO’s” of each trip.
For some reason, the “little things” I buy there get used up in time for the next visit. (Repeat above)
After making selection, it is really fun to just play tourist in the rest of the store. Also walking that far is great exercise.

I don’t do much hunting anymore, but the camping areas and footwear areas are great.

I usually start out with a cup of coffeee and then the bargain barn. If it’s slow (seldom) good info from staff and other tourists/shoppers.

I went there with high hopes and cash in my pocket. The guy wouldn’t even let me hold a rifle because I live in NYS. So I didn’t buy any clothing, ammo, nothing.

I got ya. We wanted to buy a pistol, but they wouldn’t let us because we’re VA residents.

Back about ten years ago, I would buy one or two Winter coats from Cabelas by mail order every year. All of their clothing, and especially their leather coats, were of the highest quality. Opening a Cablea’s box was always a pleasant surprise. I never had the slightest qualm about ordering something without having tried it on first. Then, in the space of one year, maybe 2005 or 2006, all that changed. The quality of their clothing dropped to point where I was shocked to see how bad it was when I opened the box. I was sorry to see that happen, and haven’t bought much from them since.

I’m going off-topic here..apologies in advance..but does anyone here watch Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing.”..the show’s very funny...(it’s set in a Cabela-type store) and very week he gets n some really good digs against Obama and liberals. It has strong conservative themes..yet is almost never mentioned on FR
