Neal Boortz: Social Conservatives Will Keep Republicans from Taking Senate
Big Government ^ | December 27, 2013 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 12/27/2013 7:52:20 AM PST by Rufus2007

On Thursday, semi-retired radio talker Neal Boortz predicted the Republican Party will not win control of the U.S. Senate in the 2014 midterm elections, despite all the pitfalls the Democrats and President Barack Obama are facing, particularly with regards to Obamacare. The reason, Boortz said, would be the GOP’s tendency to run on issues related to social conservatism. Boortz explained the importance to the republic for a GOP win next year while guest hosting Sean Hannity’s Thursday radio show:

It is a safe bet that after the election, no matter which party prospers, we will still have an unconstitutional Big Government driving the country into ruin, spending money we don’t have, supporting foreigners who hate us, protecting homos and sexual freaks, illegal aliens and terrorists, while pandering to minorities.

They will also continue to persecute citizens, taxpayers, Christians and law-abiding patriots while shaking us down for more tax money to finance their socialist wealth redistribution.

So why should we work hard to make sure we are being screwed by republicans instead of democrats?

He’s almost right, at least in one sense. RINOs are quite good at pandering on social issues. See Lindsey Graham. We have a large number of almost single issue voters. If a RINO properly does the pro-life dance, it’s often good enough to get elected. See Lindsey Graham. The GOPe knows to turn to social issues and the military to fake out the base. Look for Lindsey Graham to start talking a lot about abortion and the need to bomb somebody. Oops, he’s already started.

Just simply being pro-life is NOT good enough. That’s a starting point, not the finish line for a candidate. Again, see Lindsey Graham.

Please state the specific issues that RR campaigned on and governed by that demonstrate his social conservatism.

There is a very specific reason as to why Neal Boortz has never substituted for Rush Limbaugh...think about that when considering Boortz’s credentials.

So failure to woo social conservatives is the fault of social conservatives? Is the failure of Yugo to sell cars to Americans also the fault of the American consumer or is it that we just don’t buy cheap fascist imitations?

I think Boortz’s middle initial is A. He goes into a snit about anyone who opposes abortion. One big flaw of his.

No, Rockefeller Republicans will keep the Senate from becoming more conservative.

I sort of agree with Neal in that the left/media is able to poison the well for alot of young people and women with issues like sex and abortion. What we should do is is find a way to show people that these are our beliefs and we will set the example in our own lives. Also, that we believe that free people should be moral people, but that it is not the Government’s role to dictate these behaviors one way or the other. This will set us up to do a lot of good just stopping the government from dictating and funding “the other” while not violating the trust of the people with all sorts of new prohibitions. Maybe others have better ideas, but we must be ready to address these concerns in a positive constructive way without embracing the other sides positions and morals.

if Americans choose lying liberal democrats to rule, over honest social conservatives, then so be it

no more chasing the stupid and the squish voters with liberal-lite RINOs

it just means America has even further to fall before liberalism and the democrat party are exposed for the socially ruinous forces they have become

Well, mr boortz, how would it look different if GOP takes the senate and McCain and McConnell et al are in charge?

He campaigned on being pro-life, pro-prayer in school, family values, just say no to drugs, anti-ERA.

Boortz is right about one thing: if radical liberals maintain power than there will be no advancement of a conservative agenda. It is better for Conservatives to share power with moderates than to remain a minority and live under the thumb of communists.

Righto. I happen to be quite socially conservative, but am nevertheless able to recognize that the media has succeeded in demonizing them to a great many, quite possibly a majority, of Americans.

Whether one agrees with a position or not should not impact a logical analysis of electoral politics. For instance, I would like to see an amendment overturning Roe and returning abortion legislation to the states.

But I am able to recognize that such a position would result in most of those running on it losing.

Because you and I and Fred down the road agree with a certain position does not mean that most Americans do. Most Americans can be and often are wrong. But most Americans determine who will win elections, regardless of whether they are right or wrong.

I was hoping to tune into Sean yesterday. Then I got Neal Boortz who was subbing in. I almost vomited listening to this man. He really detests social conservatives. That came through loud and clear. Libertarians like him need to study their history. When moral values are put on the back burner, look what happened to ancient Rome, Sodom and Gomorrah, ancient Greece. A more recent example: Godless Europe which has all but drifted into a state of bankruptcy and irrelevancy. A continent where there are more grandparents than grandchildren in most families.

How do you logically separate the social issues from the fiscal issues?

Can you really ignore the huge fiscal burden of Obamacare? Illegal aliens? Unfettered homosex? Government funding of abortions? Minimum wage? Union intimidation? Crimes related to drug abuse?

The social/fiscal divide seems to be an artificial political construct designed to ignore individual and state rights, overrun the will of the electorate and negate conservative values.

The Gop-e wants to somehow make us believe that they can shrink government spending without addressing the underlying social principles. Nonsense.

I heard a few minutes of his dribble yesterday. I had to turn the station.

Libertarians rarely get more than 5-10% of the vote. There is a reason for this.
