"We know that being gay is not a choice someone makes, and that to suggest otherwise can be incredibly harmful."

Is HRC saying being gay is a birth defect?

You think prisoners were born gay?

Or a birth defect you could “choose” to abort....

That makes their heads explode.

It’s actually a question with a binary solution set.

Either people are responsible for their actions, or they are not.

If they are not, they have no claim on liberty.

If gay is not a choice, then how can we cease the spread of it, with out eradication?

Whether it's by choice or some genetic screw-up, it's still not correct. Attempting to mate with someone of the same gender just doesn't make sense any way you look at it.

If it's a physical/genetic defect, then we should seek a cure. If it's not genetic, then we should develop a therapy for it.

You've just described the theories put forth by the philosopher B.F. Skinner

I don't ascribe to his theories, but they are compelling nevertheless. His novel "Walden Two" is a good read.

But in claiming birth defect status, they admit to being defective and abnormal.

This has not occurred to them?

“Ok, if it isn’t a choice then it is a mutation in the species...”

And, Mother Nature has pronounced that mutation a dead end.

Still waiting for them to identify the queer gene .... then it is all over during the pre-birth screening.

Someday, when the Stalinists have absolute power, it’ll get them purged.

“If homosexuality is genetic and gene therapy could “cure” it, would you support the use of that gene therapy?”

Mine is simple to faggots: if homosexuality is “normal”, then how come 2 fudgepackers cannot make a child...normally?

Your analysis is right on target. It is a psychological aberration most likely triggered in early childhood, and usually due to sexual abuse. For this reason, it truly is no different than any other disordered attractions.

The studies you are talking about were conducted out of New Zealand as well. Hardly a right wing think tank. Homosexuality is not genetic.

While Skinner may have enunciated the equation, as it were, attributing it to him as a “theory” is like claiming Ben Franklin invented electricity.

It is actually an identity statement.

The whole of humanity’s claim on liberty as a right as opposed to a desire is the postulate that mankind is the master of his actions.

Gene therapy would not be required because it is categorically NOT genetic, as has been proven by studies on identical twins.

Curing homosexuality is like curing dissociative identity disorder. It’s likely very hard, but with enough effort, doable, with simple psychiatric solutions applied in the right amounts.
