New York Times Contradicts Own Reporting on Benghazi
breitbart ^ | 12/29/13 | Kerry Picket

Either New York Times writer David Kirkpatrick is ignoring his own colleagues’ work, or the Hillary Clinton supporters are laying out early foundations to combat what will be the biggest criticism of her tenure as Secretary of State if she decides to run for the Oval Office.

The New York Times' assertion that Al Qaeda’s involvement in the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi is particularly questionable considering the preponderance of evidence that shows otherwise.

In his piece, Kirkpatrick writes, ”But the Republican arguments appear to conflate purely local extremist organizations like Ansar al-Shariah with Al Qaeda's international terrorist network. The only intelligence connecting Al Qaeda to the attack was an intercepted phone call that night from a participant in the first wave of the attack to a friend in another African country who had ties to members of Al Qaeda, according to several officials briefed on the call," he claims. "But when the friend heard the attacker's boasts, he sounded astonished, the officials said, suggesting he had no prior knowledge of the assault.”

A September 2012 P.J. Media piece by Patrick Poole shows how bizarre the recent New York Times piece’s attempt to downplay Libya’s Ansar al-shariah’s connection to Al Qaeda. At the time, Fox News reported that Abu Sufyan Bin Qumu, a former GITMO detainee and head of Ansar al-Shariah, was on the ground in Benghazi the week of the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans:

Not the first time.

The NYT with their "Bush lied" mantra directly contradicted what they had been reporting all thru the Clinton years. The Times reported time and time again in the 90's that Clinton's people believed Saddam had WMD. It was Clinton who made regime change official US policy based on WMD.

But when Bush couldn't find WMD, it was suddenly only Bush who had "lied" with no more mention of what the Clinton people had said over and over again.

Now the Slimes is again up to their old tricks.

I remember, during the vote to deploy troops in preperation for the attack on Iraq, Hillary saying she didn’t need to refer to the intelligence the Bush administration presented with regard to WMD. She said instead that she would rely on the information developed during the Clinton administration and she voted yes on that resolution.

Back in the 90's there was a story almost every day about Saddam and the growing threat.

And EVERY Clinton administration official was on board with that.

But now the whole country believes Bush went it alone. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the lies.

This story irritates me to no end.

When the supposed "offensive video" was on youtube it had roughly 400 views, prior to the attack.

Now I don't know just how many people in Benghazi even had access to the internet on 9/11/12, but it could not POSSIBLY be a huge number.

And to put a finer point on it, there are WAY worse "offensive" anti-muslim videos out there, and were more widely seen at the time.

What was SO special about this particular video?

Was it projected on a movie screen to ramp up anti-US fever?

And supposedly the Muslim Brotherhood was behind the attacks, yet are in NO WAY associated with al-Qaida.

Even though they themselves admit they are.

This "story" stinks on so many levels.

You know, I think everybody is on to them at this point. Even a Democrat Congressman went on TV (along with his republican colleague) today to say: er, no, that report’s not accurate.

How insulted was his intelligence for him to do that?

They are still influencing the broadcast media (CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.) which in turn influences the low info voters, but other than that I think they are just preaching to the Upper West Side choir.

“Was it projected on a movie screen to ramp up anti-US fever?”

I read something today, responding to this same NY Times piece that said that Terry Jones (remember him, the Florida Pastor who was going to burn the Koran? Plus, he went to school with Rush Limbaugh. That is the totality of what I remember about him) was going to do something with this film, show it in theaters or something.

I’m sorry I can’t remember where I read that. But the point the person was trying to make was that OF COURSE the CIA, or whoever, was well aware of this silly film and might have been aware that it would cause problems.

Anyway, I don’t really get it. Suppose the stupid movie WAS the motivator, what does that change?

Theo Van Gogh was killed, absolutely because of an anti-Islamic film he made. That wasn’t OK.

But . . . but . . . networks popular in Benghazi were already “spewing outrage” against the video. It must have been the video, with these detailed, specific, proven facts!

You bury her by playing her desire for Hillary care which became Obama.

Play that stuff and people will get it IMO.

Well they will try and tell us that a bunch of irate Libyans saw the video and then used their everyday military training and specialized weapons and rocket launchers to take on the compound with military precision all by...luck.

We know Hillary is dirty. Everyone knows she failed and got people killed in Benghazi. SHAME on Hillary Clinton. She should be too ashamed of her self to be in public much less try and get elected El Presidente. SHAME ON THE NAME CLINTON.

No one can deny that in editorial meetings they sit around and stratigize on how they can help the democrats. Remember Candy Crowley promised her fellow journal list friends that her debate wasn't going to make Obama look bad like Jim Leher's did.She would step in and manage things should Romney not play the role of preordained loser .

Hillarycare -> Romneycare -> Obamacare. Such an ugly progression. In fact, one might say that like Elizabeth Warren who “created the intellectual foundation” for Occupy Wall Street, Hillary is the intellectual architect of the national disaster known as Obamacare.

It's not like the NYT has not done this before.

The NYT, Pravda, Tass, and Izvestia were praising the Russo-German Non-Aggression Pact as a major accomplishment of Stalin's USSR when the Germans attacked the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941. Even Stalin wouldn't believe his fellow dictator, Hitler, had betrayed him and had pulled a double-cross. Soviet trains containing supplies and goods continued to Germany for several days as German tanks, planes, and infantry swarmed into Soviet territory as part of Operation BARBAROSSA.
