Bitcoin technology has the potential to revolutionise the way we buy and sell property, enforce legal documents and even place bets, according to a new report from financial services and investment firm Wedbush Securities.
The system of decentralized trust, meaning that there is no central authority, that underpins bitcoin could have applications beyond the payments world that is most commonly associated with the cryptocurrency, write the reports authors Gil Luria and Aaron Turner. The report reads:
We see the potential for bitcoin technology to digitize and decentralize trust. The implications of eliminating the need for centralized trust may go beyond payment networks to areas such as securities markets, sports gambling and even legal contracts.

I’ll stick with gold and silver. After the SHTF I don’t think bitcoin is going to be relevant. If you can’t hold it in your hand and its not made of PM fogeddaboutit.
A currency that cannot be manipulated by the banksters and the big-government/big-corporate criminal complex would be their worst nightmare.
Can Bitcoin even exist without the Interwebs?
Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.
Indeed! It would almost make the need for their services unnecessary.
Sounds like a good way to launder some money.
The government is trying desperately to figure out if this is a currency, an investment, a means of sending money, or a ponzi scheme. Either way, owning them is going to be a problem.
The governments and central banks not only can’t figure it out, they don’t know what to do about it or if they even can. Meanwhile, it’s gaining more and more ground on the old way of doing things daily.
No more so than stocks, bonds, ETFs, or anything else that can be transacted outside of the country where originally purchased.
"8) Bitcoin will continue increasing in popularity and value, Amazon or another major retailer will announce acceptance of the virtual currency. Bitcoin will continue to have wild price swings, increasing in value to $2,500 or higher during 2014. Bonus predictions: Edward Snowden gets some type of pardon and returns to the United States. Fukushima has another meltdown or emergency, as the public has never been told the true extent of the problem."
Other interesting predictions for '14 at the link above.
Bitcoin...big deal. The coming big new financial wrinkle will be crowd funding for innovative ideas that will result in an explosion of new products, technology and interpreneurial freedom from the dictates of the globalist oligarchic financial/banking system.
Heck, Spam would be more valuable.
It’s not got too much Spam in it.....
It is not like I have a lot of faith in green backs but I wouldn’t put a penny in bitcoin. The US government WILL shut it down. It’s only a matter of time.
Clearly, missing the point entirely.
Things will even out over time.
