Oregon Mother: I Can’t Afford Obamacare For Myself, 1-Year-Old Son (former "cheerleader")

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS Seattle/AP) — One Oregon mother says that she is unable to afford health insurance for her and her 18-month-old son because it’s too expensive.

The woman — who wishes to remain anonymous — tells KOIN-TV that she originally championed President Barack Obama’s signature health care law because she thought it would help people in her situation.

“I’ve been a cheerleader for the Affordable Care Act since I heard about it and I assumed that it was designed for people in my situation,” she told KOIN. “I was planning on using the Affordable Care Act and I had done the online calculator in advance to make sure I was going to be able to afford it.”

Her husband works for a non-profit organization that pays for his health care, but the couple is unable to afford to have her and their son covered under his plan. And she’s been told their combined income is too much to qualify for a subsidized health care plan under Cover Oregon.

“It wasn’t until I started the process and got an agent that I started hearing from them I wasn’t going to qualify for subsidies because I qualify on my husband’s insurance,” she told KOIN.

She’ll be telling him he gained weight since Roman times.

Really? I miss my father who put up with her for 60 years. He never used his Medicare benefits or abused the ER.

In that case, I'm very glad this is happening to you.

Heh heh!

In my sanctified imagination I can envision Jesus saying yes He has! He hoisted the weight of the world’s sin upon Himself!

I am starting to see the LIVs on my Facebook feeds get notices that their oremiums are doubling. Hehe, I have to say, it is giving me a certain degree of pleasure.

Well, it takes chickens coming home to roost before some people learn lessons.

My mother was an angry abusive woman.

Believe me, I don’t miss her one bit.

I loved my mother because she was my mother. But anything else is not gonna happen.

Then God bless you and keep you. It’s a tough world out there and we need to care for one another and try to have sympathy for one another. I don’t know where I’ll be in a year from now. But I’m no moocher (in 40 years of working I’ve never had any government handout including unemployment) and I’ll be damned if any comfortable freeper tells me that I am.

Oops, I didn’t realize you were talking about mothers - I thought you were talking about economics. Yes, my mother has been a miserable influence in my life. I’ve had a volunteer here - a very nice man - who wants to help her. He is welcome to her. He will last twenty minutes and then disappear into the ether. I’ve seen that all before.

Malignant mothers have a terrible influence on their daughter’s lives. Unless they walk in our footsteps, they need to shut up.
