Chris Christie Fires 'Stupid' and 'Deceitful' Staffer, Apologizes to New Jersey
US News ^ | 01/09/2014 | REBEKAH METZLER

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was unequivocal in his condemnation of the actions taken by some of his staffers last fall to exact political retribution by closing George Washington Bridge traffic lanes and causing major backups, but he continued to deny any prior knowledge of the plot in a press conference Thursday.

Christie began by apologizing to the people of Fort Lee and New Jersey, and said he would be traveling to Fort Lee later Thursday to repeat his sentiment directly to the most affected community.

"I am embarrassed and humiliated by the conduct of some of the people on my team," Christie said.

Christie said he fired [Deputy Chief of Staff] Kelly Thursday morning for lying to him and has asked Bill Stepien, his former campaign manager, to withdraw from taking over as New Jersey Republican Party chairman. Christie also said he advised against the Republican Governors Association – of which Christie serves as chairman – using Stepien as a political consultant.

How would that thought process work? Let’s see, I want to get back at the mayor of Fort Lee so I’m going to inconvenience all travelers crossing the bridge.

That really showed him!

I'd love to know what kind of a severance package the fired staffer got .... “Look ... you take the fall ... we'll take care of your salary for a year ... then, when the heat is off we'll find you a cushie, no-show position somewhere in the vast, bloated bureaucracy."

“He’s a lying weasel. His underlings wouldn’t have done this unless they thought he’d approve, which shows you exactly what kind of person he is.”

What is your basis for saying this?

All you need to know about Christie’s character and fitness for the presidency is revealed by his use of “stupid” as the first adjective that came to mind when he talked about the fired appointee in that article.

Stupid is a forgotten dental appointment. Stupid is not glancing right before you pull over into the next lane.

Closing that bridge wasn’t “stupid” — it was venal, vicious, childish, immoral, and endangered public safety.

“Stupid” only describes how the bridge closure is now affecting the governor and his hapless appointees — not how it affected New Jersey residents. I’m guessing “stupid” isn’t the first word that comes to mind if you were trapped on that bridge.

“Stupid” was putting it in e-mails. “Stupid” was thinking you wouldn’t get caught.

Yeah, it’s all about you, governor. Victimized by stupid staffers. If we take you at your word that you didn’t know about it, then we also have to observe that everybody else figured it out. You didn’t, so you’re too “stupid” to be governor, let alone president.

To support this guy as president now, knowing what is known about his character — now, that really would be stupid.

“If you are going to engage in dog fight politics why would you write about it for the whole world to see?”

Exactly, you don’t have be James Bond to figure that out.

This was all very petty and despicable. I live in NJ, it’s great to know that those running the show (paid for by OUR money) think my life and time are basically valueless. We’ve got enough criminals here to provide that function.

This is a major screw-up, and I wouldn’t count on it just going away, regardless of who he fired, etc. Sure, if he was a Dem it would be different, but maybe not for the public even if it was for the press.

People hate sh*t like this, and for good reason.

My thoughts of the Christie Love Affair!
There is a great cartoon of a Rat, still living, caught in a trap, with his EX-FRIENDS lined up behind him in “Support”.
I can’t find my copy, sorry!

So almost all of the Left-wing media has lauded Christie for taking responsibility.

Don't worry. Once he wins the primaries, the MSM will unseal all the NSA research material the DNC's provided to them.

Day 2, and still not one Christie thread has managed to stick in the Breaking News sidebar.

Now why would some staffer take it upon himself to close access to the bridge all on his own? Krispy Kreme Christie is finished.

The leftist fangs are out. They have been looking for something to get Christie on. Now they think they have something. The plan is to hype it beyond all reason.

This is what happens when you’re a threat to the democrats’ entrenched power.

Maybe it’s nitpicking but here is another story that bothered me about Christie:

What a small man.
He likes being perceived as a bully and hires friends who are like him then he throws them under the bus when they did what he wanted them to do.

I bet anything that Christie has a high paying no show job lined up for them.
