DALLAS COUNTY, AL (WSFA) -
A tense ordeal inside a Dollar General store in Orrville ended with a gunman dead at the hands of a customer who took action. The fatal shooting happened around 12:45 p.m. Thursday on Highway 22.
Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman Jr. says the gunman walked into the store waving a gun in the air and forced a cashier and customer at gunpoint towards a break room area. At that point, the customer pulled out a concealed weapon and shot the suspect in the chest once. The gunman was pronounced dead at the scene. The entire incident played out in less than five minutes, police said.
According to the sheriff, other customers and delivery men were inside the store at the time of the incident. Several customers making their way into the store saw the man waving a gun and ran away.
The Dollar General store was closed Thursday afternoon following the shooting. A sign on the front door indicated it would reopen Friday. WSFA was asked to leave the property by Dollar General management.
There was another sign on the doors of the business stating that open carry of a weapon was not allowed inside the store. According to the sheriff, the customer's gun was concealed and inside a holster. His investigators are confirming whether or not the customer has a valid concealed carry permit.

Does it become open carry if you take the gun out of your concealed holster and shoot the bad guy with it? It’s a good thing the store clerk didn’t do this, or they’d probably fire him.

I am going to make a prediction that the cause of death was gunfire, perfesser.
That saying is attributed to the character Lazarus Long in a book by Robert Heinlein. I think the book was “Time Enough for Love”. Great book by a great writer, even if he was a little flaky.
Tennessee law states that a person who is legally allowed to possess a firearm cannot be charged with a firearms related crime if he/she uses it in self defense. In other words, it doesn matter if you have a valid carry permit or not.
Never get into a car trunk at the point of a gun, you're gonna be killed either way, so make him shoot you where you stand, that way, if he still wants your carcass in the trunk, he'll have to heft your dead ass in there himself and maybe he will at least get a hernia out of it.

The first sentence in the article is well written.
But by the time I read to the end, I prayed that the “customer who took action” will not be punished for quick and exact reflexes.

Break rooms and refrigerated rooms are where perps, with murder(s) planned, take victims to be killed. I trust the armed customer gave the perp a double-tap to the chest followed by one to the head—the situation called for that in my opinion.
