PROPOSED MISSION STATEMENT, AMERICAN SPRING 2014 (MARCH ON WASHINGTON)

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” – Ronald Reagan, 1961

As we, the American people, see our rights diminishing and our Constitution violated daily, we have become alarmed. We will fight to preserve our freedoms, as Ronald Reagan warned us to do – lest we lose the country we know and love.

Here are our demands:

  1. OBAMACARE MUST BE OVERTURNED. This unworkable system will destroy medical freedom, and will affect every area of our lives. Medical information in the hands of the Federal or State government will be abused, used to deny us other rights, or used to control us. The costs of Obamacare are so onerous as to deprive us of our financial freedom at the most perilous point in our lives. Obamacare takes away our personal, private decisions, and puts that control in the hands of a government bureaucrat. The Obamacare bill was passed on many lies, and now those lies have been revealed.

  2. THE NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY MUST STOP MASS-COLLECTION OF AMERICAN CITIZEN ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS. Not even George Orwell, who wrote the horrifying novel 1984, envisioned a world in which every communication was monitored and stored for later use. This information can be used to blackmail, to determine political leanings, and ultimately to imprison or otherwise deny guaranteed rights.

  3. AMNESTY FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS MUST NOT BE GRANTED. When foreigners come into our country, illegally and with no respect for the rule of law, our laws are diminished. Our culture is diminished. Our individual votes are watered down. Voters become disenfranchised. There is already a viable system to become a legitimate US citizen. Our immigration system is not broken – it is not being given a chance to work. Most of our distant relatives did things by the law and correctly. These people can too. NO AMNESTY.

  4. CALL OFF THE REGULATORY AGENCIES. Like petty little tyrants, hordes of bureaucrats are swarming across America, making it harder to keep a company in business. The economy is suffering under the incredible burden of over 13,000 new regulations since Obama took office. Jobs are not being created, jobs are being lost to other nations who have no such obstacles to succeeding. If we are ever to turn this economy around, we must control these regulating agencies (such as the Environmental Protection Agency) before they choke the very life out of the nation and the nation’s economic engine.

This is a proposed mission statement for the Free Republic contingent of the American Spring 2014 movement, hopefully to be in conjunction and in cooperation with the Ten Million Man March.

An interesting suggestion. Please be sensitive to the need for brevity of the whole of the document, of course... but an interesting suggestion nonetheless.

While I agree these need an independent investigator, I think the genius of Laz’s list is that it is Americans versus the gov’t elites. Too many people would see the investigations as just partisan politics. Unfortunately.

I was careful to avoid anything partisan. I actually got feedback from my (reasonable version of a) liberal roommate, who liked the overall concept but hated when I introduced anything partisan. It's unlikely, but you never know: We may end up marching with liberals (the more reasonable kind, not the Barking Moonbat MSNBC kind), on Washington, sharing certain important goals.

The enemy of my enemy is a (temporary) friend.

Absolutely. And in reality, I think we can make an appeal to more libertarian-minded young people to start opposing Big Government, and gradually convince them that they should be looking to the right for real change.

The mission is plainly and succinctly stated.

Going for limited objectives prevents, as conservatives are want to do, running off in all directions at once chasing the personal grails

I attended the March For Justice in ‘98. It was absolutely the most fun weekend I have ever had and I still have the t-shirt! I don't think I will make this one but I urge everyone who can go to just go!

I don’t know much about them. When I spoke with JimRob not 20 minutes ago, he let me know there was an American Spring movement. Was a little iffy about them, as you are. I guess I’m borrowing a name for now, until this thing gels. We can rename if necessary, or persuade them to a better place, or something.

We need about a million american’s on the WH fence baying for the tyrant to quit.
Camp out there and stay till he does. It would rely a lot on retired vets and unemployed.
