A woman critical of politics in a small Missouri town says she received intimidating notes last week threatening to reveal supposed sexually explicit emails involving her unless she back[s] away from the city now.
The note, with the words spelled out from what appears to be magazine clippings, suggests that unless Erin Kasten, 39, of Pevely halts her criticism of city politics, embarrassing emails will be leaked to her friends, family and even the public. The 39-year-old says she received the note at work on Friday.
We have copies of sexually explicit emails that we dont think you would like to be exposed to your family or friends or the public, the note, being investigated by authorities and published by the Leader, says. Back away from Pevely now!
Kasten, however, said no such emails existed and said that if they did she would give the local newspaper permission to publish them on the front page, according to KTVI-TV.

Dear John Boehner,
Please see attached story for guidance to manhood.

happens at the federal level too, S&P was warned about retaliation for a credit downgrade

Blackmail, plain and simple
“Blackmail is an act, often a crime, involving unjustified threats to make a gain or cause loss to another unless a demand is met.[1][2] It may be defined as coercion involving threats of physical harm, threat of criminal prosecution, or threats for the purposes of taking the person’s money or property.[1][3][4][5][6][7][8]”

Couple thoughts.
It is not beyond the realm of possibility these notes are a hoax. Lots of people crave fame, and will do whatever it takes to get noticed. Don’t as me why. I just want to be ignored by their world.
Local and state entities can be every bit as oppressive as federal authorities. If you piss off the sheriff of a rural county, he can make your life a misery. Not all oppression is by big government.
Here’s where Oliver Darcy stole the story from:

That was my first thought as well.
S&P should have responded by doing the downgrade, but honestly… which would likely be a CCC rating, at the highest.

When Obama style political thuggery has reached the metropolitan center of Pevely Missouri, then the nation is lost.
Mine too.

I once (fairly recently) saw this description of life in a prison: "constant lies, backed up by the threat of violence."
Maybe, now if she was alleging a hate crime probably 100% right.
We’ve been thinking about re-locating and Missouri is high on our list. But from what we’ve read, Missouri has a big problem with local ‘corruption’.
Yeah way over the top like a bad movie, she likely made the note herself.
