So the Iranians really do plan to get their licks in after all — no matter how hard they get pasted back in return.

The ONLY guaranteed ticket for admission to that whore-house-in-the-sky they call paradise is to die in jihad.

What's their downside?

No doubt in my mind.

London, 1940 Washington, 2014. Thanks, 0.00. I guess that al-Queda has been defeated!

.........., and that was just the time it took to come up with the first 10 ways to tactically defeat them.

Yeah, they’re for... cruise missiles. Yeah, that’s it. Those Aegis naval ships just don’t cut it any more. And these blimps are integrated with all kinds of ‘stuff’ so they can do more than just watch the cruise missiles. Yeah, that’s it!

How many trillions in defense have we spent over the last 50 years.

And the ‘best’ we can do against cruise missiles is a fscking blimp?

Ok, class, raise your hands: Who believes this story?

And it’s ‘interesting’ to me that they’re protecting the elites first. Those nuke plants in SC or petrochemical plants in/around Houston? Yeah well, what’s a few toasted peasants...

Who knew blimps could prevent a city from getting obliterated by a nuclear weapon?

I do! My government would NEVER lie to me, or spy on me... right?

The article oddly leaves out the fact that the pair of aerostats is the JLENS radar system (leaving that out means you can’t look it up). About a year ago it moved from a test site in Nevada. Testing will continue on the coast.

Cameras? Yeah a camera at 10,000 feet that will watch people 100 miles away. Oh the gross invasion of privacy.

As for flying into them, APRF is already a restricted zone, it has a couple of artillery ranges that would not be friendly to a Cessna.

I’m a little unclear on exactly how a tethered blimp is supposed to intercept a maneuvering 500 mph cruise missile.

Hopefully they figure something better than blimps for a long-term solution to this problem.

I’m just wondering how many petapixel cameras are on that. And the downlink bandwidth being fed into the facial recognition database.
