Democrats: Cede the House to save the Senate

With Democrats’ grasp on the Senate increasingly tenuous — and the House all but beyond reach — some top party donors and strategists are moving to do something in the midterm election as painful as it is coldblooded: Admit the House can’t be won and go all in to save the Senate.

Their calculation is uncomplicated. With only so much money to go around in an election year that is tilting the GOP’s way, Democrats need to concentrate resources on preserving the chamber they have now. Losing the Senate, they know, could doom whatever hopes Barack Obama has of salvaging the final years of his presidency. Continue Reading

The triage idea is taking hold in phone conversations among donors and in strategy sessions between party operatives. Even some of the people who have invested the most to get House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi back into the speaker’s chair are moving in that direction.

“There is no question that Democratic donors are shifting towards the Senate in 2014. They will continue to support Nancy, but everyone agrees that the emphasis is going to be on the Senate,” said Joe Cotchett, a prominent San Francisco trial attorney and friend of Pelosi’s who has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic Party candidates and causes. “When you see people like [longtime California Democratic Rep.] George Miller announcing that they are not running again, you know where the money will be going.”

The elected TEApartiers are Republicans.

If they’re not good enough for you, you might as well just go 2A on yourself.

TEA Party =/= GOP, genius.

TEA Party = TEA Party.

When the stinking GOP finally kills itself, I suppose the TEA Party people can put a different letter by their name.

A letter that means something other than ENEMY, hopefully.

And incidentally, outside of Ted Cruz, they aren’t particularly effective.

“Such a shame, what with Ginsburg sure to not make it thru 2016, the seat to go to a leftist youngin. “

You are wrong. It is the president who picks the justices and with few exceptions, the senate rubber stamps the pick.

Even Scalia, Thomas, Alito made it through the democrat senate and kooky Ginsberg made it through the republican senate.

“It’s the same folks running the GOP show. I wouldn’t bet against that happening again.”

You don’t belong to the NRSC but I do. After 2012, Cornyn was replaced by Jerry Moran and the entire staff got fired. Cornyn had some really nice people. Jerry Moran has people who are not nearly as pleasant. They are more like ex Marine drill sargents. That is probably because one of them is an ex Marine drill sargent.

Also new this year. No one gets a dime of Nrsc money until they go to Nrsc candidate school and you won’t see any more Todd Akins or Richard Mourdocks anymore.

“The GOP hasn’t pleased me at all. Not in any way.”

Then stop voting in my party’s primaries.

I’m sure you’ve got great candidates lined up but it doesn’t matter. As Cruz says, keep pushing amnesty and you can forget the Senate.

Boehner, Priebus, McConnell. Leadership and most of their lieutenants are all the same from 2012. All are rigidly anti-conservative at this time. You don’t seem to have a problem with that.

You mention Mourdouck and Akin but not Linda McMahon, Tommy Thompson or Charlie Crist. So really your beef is with conservatives. Will you be happy to see more losers as long as they are promising corportists? The fact is folks like you are happy with progressives as long as they are in the GOP tent.

Sorry, conservatives are no longer buying what you are selling. I suggest you starting working on those 11 million undocumented Democrats to get the votes you need to elect progressives.

You know what’s funny about human psychology?

It’s so easy to push a person or group of people in a certain direction simply by lying to them.

But then when another person tells that person to group of persons who were pushed in a certain direction by being lied to that they were in fact played, conned and had, those persons who were victimized get mad at the person telling them this and actually defend the liar that lied to them.

They do this because 1) they can’t admit that they were fooled and fell for the ploy, and 2) because they are fools.

Essentially it boils down to most people can’t see patterns, and when someone shows them the pattern, they just get mad because they come face to face with the fact that they are just pretty much stupid.

Anyway, I’ll vote wherever and whenever I want for whomever I want.

And now I’m going to do it in such a way that I make my best effort to destroy your stinking party of liars.

Have a nice day, lemming.

“And now I’m going to do it in such a way that I make my best effort to destroy your stinking party of liars.”

You know, for decades, the TV networks, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama have been trying to do that too, but WE REPUBLICANS ARE STILL HERE.

Enjoy the quest. Don Quixote will enjoy your company !

Do you know who you are?

You are the lonely little cleaning girl at the local motel who empties out all her savings to send them to her Nigerian prince who said he loved her in an e-mail she once got.

And even when her bank account is empty and he prince has been arrested, she is sad because he said he loved her.

That’s who you are.

Do you know who we are?

We are Americans who have been lied to, divided and conquered and pitted against each other by a common enemy, the US government.

That’s who we are.

I suggest you wise up and open your eyes. We are about to be without a country and you are defending the people who are going to take it because you think they are on your side.

You know, I’m trying not to be rude, but there’s dumb, and then there’s dumb...

And then there’s you.

You’re pretty much out of time.

>> TEA Party =/= GOP, genius. <<

Yeah, it kinda does.

There isn’t such a thing as a RAT TEApartier.

There are millions of Republicans, without them, you have nothing. There are only a few elites who have hijacked the GOP brand. There is nothing wrong with the GOP message...the elites have simply crapped all over it.

There will be no effective fifty fourth “third party”...ever...in your lifetime.

If you can’t tell the difference between a Republican and a RINO, you should hang it up.

All you’re gonna do is help the communists win.

No it kinda doesn’t.

And I’m not helping the GOP communists win, because I’m not voting for them.

Pretty much at this point the whole thing is going to need to crash and burn.

There us, and there’s the enemy.

Problem is there’s a whole bunch of us who think the enemy is on their side, and that goes for republicans and democrats, but the enemy is on the enemy’s side, and that’s it.

the whole thing is going to need to crash and burn. There us, and there’s the enemy.

So who's going to rush in and take over?

The Chicoms, the Russians, some Moslem dirtbags? Bill Ayers and the New Weathermen?

Let's take all the ground they'll cede. I am expecting them to go after winnable and even marginal Senate races. They're desperate and will pull out everything double plus, add in the free media and we have a tough fight in the Senate.

prominent San Francisco trial attorney and friend of Pelosi’s who has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic Party candidates and causes

The key is when we're in power we need to kill the money going to the Democratic base. This isn't cruel political calculus either.

These crony capitalists live by making laws for self-benefit. That needs to end. Deregulation, along with creating safe harbors for individuals and businesses will drive money out of trial lawyers pockets and back into the productive economy.

We’ll be there again with Obama. We need to be savvy though, Cruz has better instincts than the entire GOP leadership. The only Senator with better instincts than Cruz is Mike Lee. As leaders hey’d demolish the Democrats and Obama.

Trouble is that the GOP has plenty of crony capitalists and their elected agents. They don’t want too much change. If you know what I mean.
